This is the bar that has been set, it's the new normal now, deal with it. They played nice and tried to do the right thing for years, and nothing changed. Trump didn't slow down one bit and no-one in his party has held him accountable, so why the hell would the D's continue to be the "nice" guys?

It's almost like one party gets to do whatever they want and the other one is just supposed to take it. Same reason people are always saying the Dem's need to reach out and bring the moderate R's across to them with more conservative approaches, but will NEVER contemplate that maybe the R's should be trying to attract Dem's.

That is what you get with gutter politics. At risk of mimicking the people who say ‘Obama did it first...’ this is exactly how Trump operates, it is all about theatrics and not about content. 
 

So something that should have been about the State of the Nation and Trump turned into a MAGA rally, Pelosi upended and all that anyone is talking about is her. Well done to her, she has engaged Trump at his own game and ‘owned’ him.

In the series "The Good Place" Michael Schur goes after several aspects of society - including Northwest liberals.  They run heaven and can't get anything meaningful done cause they are so respectful and accommodating of everyone.

At one point the characters are trying to fix a broken system that sends everyone to hell.  One character, Chidi, proposes a change that gives people more of a chance at heaven.  The head demon from hell, of course, is not happy.
