Is religion a form of mental illness?

That is an excellent point, and is the strongest possible argument for religion.  If belief in religion helps a patient (or practitioner) reach a comfortable, productive level within society, it has done some good.

Clinically accurate and correct.

No, Ron. You want my choices to be based on your religion.

No, I don't care what your value system for choice is based upon. I can verbally and physically oppose them or vote against them if necessary. Other than that, I have no vested interest,

Typical Ron Gobbledygook enhanced with an inexplicable bolding of the word necessary. I said you want my choices based on your religion not my value system.

Not quite multi, and the DZ is a labor of love.  I get to change peoples lives in a way that I never could in corporate banking.  A person gives me a hug and tells me that I have changed their life,  that never happen when I approved a $200,000 dollar loan.  I cant describe the feeling I get when I look at my guys teaching a FJC, when it was just a short six years ago that I was teaching them.

I disagree with just about everything you post on SC, but this was a low blow and you handled it gracefully.  There shouldn't be room for that kind of attack here.

What part of roughly did you not understand?  Can you give me an example of a Neolithic society that had measurably more resources than another?

The Yanomami in the heart of the rainforest and the Faiyum A in the Nile valley.

I mean, what do you think the word 'resources' means?

Given that religion is omnipresent across all cultures, and given that all Neolithic societies has roughly the same technology and resources, one of the only differentiating   factors is religion.  I encourage you to look into it yourself.

Replace Romans with religion

For that matter - Breathing is pivotal - without it we wouldn't be where we are.

You are almost right - except you have it in reverse.  Without religion, we would be orders of magnitude more advanced than we are now.

You absolutely did say that civilisation couldn't advance without religion. Several times.

And the interesting part is that I think he is a little bit right, though not in the way he seems to think. I think it has been the questioning of clergy that has allowed civilization to progress. More so that without atheism civilization wouldn't have progressed as much.

I guess where he is somewhat right, it is that without religion there wouldn't be questioning of religion.

I just watched this video and it's cringe-worthy to the max.

Yikes, you ain't kidding.  I don't know whether to laugh or cry, but the comments are kinda funny, especially the ones about Michigan.  I mean I know we like the f-word up here and all, but damn we usually don't emphasize it like that - jeeze.

I could only watch half of it.

Why the hell are they trying to reason with a lunatic?

Just call the cops and have her escorted off the premises.
