Digital/Audible Altimeter

I'm new to the sport. Looking to purchase a digital altimeter (likely the Ares 2) but I'm interested in an audible altimeter as well. The audibles I see for sale don't seem to be intended for visual use as well. Am I correct? I'm wondering if I can buy a digital/audible alit combo, or if this must be purchased separately.

They are separate devices.

With the wind sounds being what they are.. if you can see it, you can't hear it and if you can hear it, you can't see it.

Audibles go inside your helmet; visuals go on your arm :-)

They are also semi-backups to each other.

I currently have a Optima II that has a Visual Warning port where I plug in a Hypoxic Optima LED indicator.

Some are able to be either an audible or visual altimeter, such as the Alti-2 Neptune series/Atlas.

for an audible, you cannot go wrong with this.  cost about $100 depending on exchange rate, has 20 altitudes and 9 tones you can set, is small, and has the best customer service i have ever seen.  i prefer the alti-2 analog for a visual, as it is more familiar to me and i don't trust electronic devices as much, so prefer to have one analog.
