Yet Another Mass Shooting

What type of ammo?  Is it semi-auto?

Edit:  I realize you're doing the "libtards are scared of scary things" and trying to say that's what the definition is about but there are three elements: magazine capacity, ammo type, rate of fire.

The top one can take 20 round magazines, is chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor (way more powerful than 5.56 with triple the effective range) it can empty its 20 rounds in less than a minute.

As you might have guessed, neither one is an assault rifle.  The one on top is a Ruger Precision Rifle.  It is a bolt action gun that can hit a milk-jug sized target from a thousand yards.  The folding stock is standard and it allows for it to be carried in a regular sized gun case, the free-float barrel AKA barrel shroud, is to allow the harmonics of the barrel to not be influenced by how the gun is supported, the muzzle break, AKA flash suppressor, reduces felt recoil, the twenty round magazines allow for sustained long range fire without having to get up and reload, then reacquire the target.

The bottom one is a Ruger Mini-14.  It is a semi-auto and is chambered in 5.56.  It has a nice walnut stock and it looks like something your granddad would hand down to you.

The correct answer is D, none of the above.

But the moment you put a magazine in the picture with more than a 5 round capacity your Mini 14 turns into an assault rifle in the State of NY.

Why would you, as a civilian, need a rifle that can shoot a milk bottle 1000 yards away?

You’re not hunting at that range. You’re not using it for home defense. About the only possible reason I can imagine is for competition target shooting.

You are correct sir

Not just competition, it is rewarding to figure out the range of a target, calculate the drop and drift, put the dope on your rifle, settle your breathing and heart rate, send the round and hear the ping of a target hit a few seconds later.  It is more fun and challenging than just lead slinging. Well more challenging anyway.;P

In some circles, it can pay pretty good too.

I could probably find a good use for 25K.  How about you?

6.5 Creedmoor may impress some but not all of the libtards here. You play childish games Brent. You aren't the only poster here that has guns but you are absolutely the only poster here that plays these kinds of games. You know, hide the bolt action but then still claim it can fire 20 rounds a minute. Get real.

Somebody doesn’t know anything about guns

More Brentercize, do you really hammer out rounds or shoot precision at 1000 yards? Or was that just more Brent bullshit? If you do really get a nut shooting precision at 1000 yards, where do you do that? Do you own a rectangular 10 acre shooting range? No? Then are you again relying on the public dole to provide you with public lands for your muse?

I am not constrained, by the "or" I am liberated by the "and"  IOW I do both.  Just where?  It is a private range that I pay to use.  And yes I can hit a 12X12 target at 500 yards every three seconds, it is actually pretty easy with the right kit.

Could you? For what? Pay your bar bill? Buy 1/3rd of a Tesla? Give more to charity and live even cheaper? Tell us, what would you do with a $25K surprise?

Why so Angry Joe?

No Bar bill.  I don't drink. I only have room for one vehicle currently.  The charity is a good idea, and I would put some toward that.

Honestly, I would probably put the lion's share toward the note on my house.

Yours statement also infers that I would be surprised if I won.  Its not a lottery, Joe, it's a competition.  I doubt any of the winners would be surprised that they received the money.

As Kallend said it makes for good compensation for other areas :)

Oh man. The Democratic party is just going to implode this year. First, we have Bernie in the running alienating every immigrant from a socialist country. To the extent that the US Representative (D) from Florida has to ask the Democratic party to please stop with the socialist rhetoric. Now, the Dems are again bound to alienate the conservative Dems who live in States other than the West & East coast that are hunters & gun enthusiasts.

I think the point that Brent is trying to make is that 98% of Dems that are in leadership roles that can enact bills to restrict weapons; really don't know what they're talking about regarding weapons.  The most popular Democratic war cry continues to be "Ban Assault Rifles." The more laws you enact; the more the gun lobby will figure out work-arounds. I would have never have thought that a muzzleloader would come with a silencer - much less be protected under the "Hearing Protection Act."

In the 90's; California outlawed the purchase of 30 round clips after a certain date. The only thing that happened was a significant amount of truckloads of 30 round magazines were bought before the law took effect. The law effectively increased the number of 30 round magazines in the state by the tens of thousands. Then when the law dropped off - there were more 30 round clips in California than any other state.

When it comes to drugs; the Democratic party continues to say, "Banning doesn't work" and we have seen that no matter how many drug laws are created; there is still a proliferation of drugs/sales/abuse/rehab in the country.  And, then turn around and say "Ban Assault rifles."

Okay; let's do that. Will it be OK to purchase a Finnish M28/30 Mosin-Nagant  bolt action rifle like this?

image.png.d537e2a843c8cd9c378fa9284fb8042d.png

Hint: It was used to kill over 500 people by one man.

Banning was the war cry thirty years ago. It didn't work then. Until the Democratic party changes its strategy on guns and uses real experts to develop some common sense legislation - you're going to fail again. You guys can't continue to alienate your own base and expect to be successful. There are conservative Democrats in your ranks. Push more towards center; than further left.

On the on the other hand, voters in general could try giving a shit about more than just a single facet of a single issue.

I think most do, yet we have some extremes on both ends of the spectrum.

Much like I think his response was. The "they want to take away your guns" counter to anything gun legislation is inaccurate for most of those wanting more logical gun regulations.

Sad :(

Also, it's curious that it always seems to be John and Jerry that are preoccupied with penises when the subject comes up.

I like how this turned into claims that Brent is the biggest Socialist on here.  To continue, I believe it was public funding that developed that AR-15 he loves so much.

Comrade Brent is a good socialist Brother who just doesn't see the truth. I wonder if he knows the tax status of his gun club association. Seems to me if it all reverts to the Government someday there might be a reason.
