Why is Crossbracing Only Seen on Skydiving Canopies?

It is also used in most paragliders, AFAIK. But they don't call them cross-braces, they call them diagonal ribs.

It is my understanding that paragliding wings are much more advanced than skydiving wings. But they have a totally different set of constraints, and a bigger market, so the difference in development is justified IMO.
