Good place to jump in winter?

I didn't get any replies in the 'Events and places to Jump', so I'll try here. Can anyone suggest a good drop zone to learn skydiving in winter that has a low cost of living (less than 1100 usd rent/month), preferably in the western hemisphere Thank you

It depends on what you will accept for accommodations. You can stay in the bunkhouse in Eloy AZ and enjoy all that SDAZ has to offer for $8/day. Wake up every morning on the DZ. And there is a wind tunnel on the property. If you get tired of bunkhouse life you could scout around for other house sharing opportunities.

And here is info on there student program. Southern AZ has the most dependable weather for winter skydiving in the USA.

Thanks for the reply! That looks like a really cool place. I would consider staying there except that there's no kitchen.

There's a fridge and a microwave. Plus a reasonably priced full time 7 day restaurant and bar a few steps away. If the goal is learning to skydive and to do a lot of jumps, SDAZ is your go to place in the winter. What part of Canada are you from?

If you want to try Florida, recommend either Skydive Deland  or Skydive City in Zephyrhills. Both have very robust AFF programs with a number of options. Both have fun jumper groups on Facebook that often post rooms, apartments, houses for rent for reasonable prices. They both fly seven days a week in the winter, so you could jump as much as you want. 

Both dropzones host many international jumpers over the winter, so you would be able to meet with a very diverse group while there. You would probably even be able to find others there who speak Canadian. 

And yes, Zephyrhills is the home of water, so you would also have that going for you. 

Good luck wherever you opt to learn. Have fun, and remember, a good arch cures a lot of problems.

I live on the border of Spain and Portugal there are two drop zones each an hour away that I jump at.

Skydive Spain and Skydive Algarve they are fabulous DZ’s with great aircraft, friendly staff and every jump is from a minimum of 15000 ft.
