Gary73 8 #1 Posted August 21, 2019 A lot of people talk about how the learning process should continue after completing AFF or whatever, but I've never seen even a framework for such a program. So I wrote one. Generic Coaching Program 2017-1.docx
20kN 93 #2 August 22, 2019 (edited) The IRM covers in great detail the requirements for coaching. The exact dive flows and requirements to pass are covered in detail. The SIM also covers this information to less of an extent. All USPA coaches are required to demonstrate knowledge on cat F, G and H of the ISP in order to pass and earn the rating since those are the three main categories they are authorized to teach. The ISP covers the exact requirements to pass each category leading from a student's first jump to their last jump prior to graduation. Gary73 8 #3 August 22, 2019 Yes, the IRM covers how to coach and the SIM covers specific basic skills, but that's as far as it goes. No intermediate or advanced skills. And no flexibility. Also, for a variety of reasons, not all dropzones use ISP. This is just something to build on for those who are interested, provided at no cost and with no obligations. Use it or don't, your choice. countzero 7 #4 August 22, 2019 Actually there are lots of options for post AFF continued learning in any discipline. Wind tunnels have free fly/ RW flight progressions, many DZs have mentor programs or skills camps and organizers that work with newer jumpers, there are canopy control, wingsuit, and CRW courses/ coaches, and there's even experienced jumpers that still pay their knowledge forward old school style. It is up to the individual jumper to pursue and take advantage of these continuing education avenues.
Gary73 8 #5 August 22, 2019 Yes, some dropzones definitely have programs in some areas, but how many have programs that cover all these areas? And how many of them have made those programs available to everyone for free? All this is is an attempt to kind of put it all together in one place to help out at dropzones that don't have such programs.

Gary73 8 #7 August 23, 2019 20kN: Yes, I saw it. I'll give you partial credit for deleting your completely inappropriate post, but you might want to take some time to think about why you would make such a post to begin with.
