We will use more energy.  We will purchase less of it, and it will cost us less.  Two examples there are LED light bulbs and EV's.

Another example of how the GND is a fantasy, especially for you climate warriors in California, good luck with your blackouts.

"The world’s developing nations, led by China (which for some incomprehensible reason Democrats claim is California’s partner in “fighting climate change” even though it will increase CO2 emissions by over 4,700 million metric tons by 2030 from year 2004 levels) and India, are forecast by EIA to be increasing their CO2 emissions between 2004 and 2030 by over 11,300 million metric tons.

clip_image010

Furthermore these nations are forecast by EIA to add an additional 6,300 million metric tons of CO2 emissions to their year 2030 total levels by year 2050.

This EIA global emissions data showing the world’s developing nations increasing CO2 emissions by more than 60 times California’s tiny emissions decrease by 2030 overwhelming invalidates any credibility being attached to the states bogus and political backroom derived “fighting climate change” chicanery.

Now, in fairness you did need to go to a school for marketing on the other side of the world to score a point but, hey, you need to start somewhere. And who knows, maybe that Chinese far side of the moon lander will find you another? You are on a roll, I'd have to agree.

Sadly, there is this in the paper: PS Our best course of action is to adapt to the effects and to invest in R&D to develop new low carbon energy. But it's only one sentence and just a PS so nothing there.

On another note, back in the day when I was working with the bird and bunny people to save the forests I met some real doozies. True believers who truly believed whatever was believed truly by whomever was truly persuasive that day. As the years passed by I noticed they didn't change much. They were always looking for something to believe in. Professor Sharp's story fits the mold.

Morning,

Since the fire that was set Last Night by our electric company, is ablaze. My shop and freeway closed. We can both watch how the corrupt Electric companies and media will tout AGW.  Enjoy the Show!!!!

Ranger Rob is the best, his predictions were correct by mere Hours!! From my shop the super scoopers are fling sorties over head to Lake Castaic.

Saddle Back is on the other side of Placerita Nature Center one of the two Parks I hike. What a crying shame. Only one PG&E truck has been shot at so far, driver's ok.

Someone needs to call CNN and tell them My shop is closed because the electric companies started another Fire,

What a bunch of in incompetent..I'll stop there.

Perhaps there will be a bunch of new lawsuits.  Then they will leave the power off all summer to make 100% sure there are no fires.  Better safe than sorry.

Ya that's the ticket.. Burden the rate payer some more, then Leave the power off ? is that the plan..  WTF

So it is Full STUPID like Germany.

The entire system has been neglected for Decades to the benefit of the Executives, Workers and Politicians, all at the expense of the Rate Payers. After the Camp fire its business as usual,But you can't see that.

Aren't utilities owned by private companies the best!!!! Fuck those damn commies with their public utilities. Capitalism fuck yeah!

With that out of the way. PG&E as a private companies is acting exactly how you would want it to. It is protecting itself against large liability. They got sued into bankruptcy before, this is the normal outcome of that. On the bright side, no regulation to stop them, cause we all no regulations are bad. And, your utility is privately owned and we all know that is a good thing.

?? Of course it's been neglected in the name of profit.  That's why we are seeing all these problems.  So the solution they will see is to concentrate on their high-return accounts (i.e. inner city) and abandon the outlying high-risk areas.  It's the best way to return to short term profitability and get out of bankruptcy.

What, you say?  You want power for everyone, implemented in a forward-looking responsible manner, rather than just short term profit grabs?  You want the PEOPLE to have a say?  You socialist you!

Sort of.  More like Atlas Shrugged than Anthem.  And perhaps the future is a set of small, distributed private generators running microgrids, like Hank Reardon's "atmospheric electricity" generator, described in Atlas Shrugged as the solution to the energy needs of Galt's Gulch.  (Wind turbines, anyone?)

The exception...not the rule.  I read this week that only 1% of the solar customers have batteries.  So they found out the hard way that solar doesn't work for them when the power is off.

Nope, the rule.  Down here in San Diego, SDG+E supplies power to 3.6 million people.  11,000 lost power for about six hours.  99.7% had no problems.

PG+E was much harder hit by winds, and had to shut down power to about 2.7 million people.  83% were not affected.

So people keeping their lights on was the rule, not the exception.

You don't need batteries to get solar to work when the grid isn't working.  In many cases, you just need to connect the backup output of the inverter.  $20 of parts at Home Depot.  Up until now almost no one has done this because they haven't needed to.

Step 1.In order to use the inverter in Secure power operation, there must be sufficient solar irradiation.

Yep.  Without batteries it only works during the day - which is when people tend to need power the most.  But if you have an EV that means you can charge during the day.  And if you don't have an EV, get a $99 UPS from Best Buy and you have power all night.

I don’t pay much for gas as I only drive downtown and to the DZ <10,000 per year.  Never had a blackout, wildfire nor $5 gas.  I don’t have homeless people shooting heroine or pooping in the streets.  I am ten miles from my DZ, two miles from skiing and world class mountain biking. Three miles from top shelf collegiate sports and concerts.  I can even have a fire pit in my backyard, while paying a fraction of the taxes you are burdened with.

So sounds like I pay a lot less than you.  And I don't have homeless people shooting heroines (or heroin) in the streets.  Or even pooping.  And I am 10 minutes from surfing and 90 minutes from skiing - and I can do them both on the same day.  Oh, and I live on top of a canyon that's got some great singletrack.

However, I fully support your right to pay whatever your utility (and your gas station) want to charge you.  You go!
