stratostar 5 #1 Posted February 15, 2019 (edited) I just found a 1971 Thunderbow rig in fairly mint condition. Having never packed one, nor seen a manual in any lofts in the last decade, I’m hoping someone here just might have one in the dust bin of time. I would like the real manual, but would be happy with just a copy of one that at least covers the packing. So if you got one to part with please let me know, thanks. jackwallace 3 #2 February 23, 2019 I don't have a manual for it, but remember when I got one it said Pack in the usual manner. HUH? was my thought. You just flake it like a PC. I jumped one in a bag so can't help you with that sleeve. I don't remember them opening hard or anyone complaining about them other than they were kind of a slug. stratostar 5 #3 February 24, 2019 How did you pack into the d bag? S folds on top of each fold or sideways S folds corner to corner of bag like how we used to stuff T 10s into bags?
jackwallace 3 #4 February 28, 2019 Like I packed a PC flaked, lay it one sided as opposed to splitting it and folding it back in thirds. Put it in the bag in S folds. I remember the thing having panels and steering lines with a lot of slack in them.
andrewhilton 1 #5 March 12, 2019 (edited) I think I have a manual but it packs similar to a PC in a sleeve if you are familiar with that already. No stabilizers, 4 centre lines ; packs up a lot smaller than a Mk 1 PC. Will be a few days before I can access the original - I'll track it down if you still need one. SCS422 24 #8 April 14, 2020 I never jumped one but my team member Sam Marshall jumped one quite a bit when we were on Wilds Bunch until he had 3 reserve deployments in a row with one. He packed it in a bag, folded it kind of like a Delta 2
dpreguy 14 #9 April 15, 2020 I never jumped one. As I recall back then, few people were motivated to buy one because if it's poor performance. A slice of history to be sure though.
goanna 0 #10 May 11, 2020 LOL, I jumped one in the early - mid 70's. A real slug, sorta chug-chug-chugged through the sky. Soft landings.
