Well, Trump is trying his best to make that happen. He just tweeted "A big new Caravan is heading up to our Southern Border from Honduras." No doubt it will be as bad as that last faux invasion, which we stopped . . . without a wall? Wait, how did that happen?

McConnell blocks House bill to reopen government for second time

Senate Republicans blocked a House-passed package to reopen the federal government for a second time in as many weeks on Tuesday.

Democratic Sens. Chris Van Hollen (Md.) and Ben Cardin (Md.) asked for consent to take up a package of bills that would reopen the federal government.

One bill would fund the Department of Homeland Security through Feb. 8, while the other would fund the rest of the impacted departments and agencies through Sept. 30, the end of the fiscal year.

Under Senate rules, any senator can ask for consent to vote on or pass a bill, but any senator can object. McConnell blocked the two bills.

From a CNN tweet:

"Hundreds of Transportation Security Administration officers, who are required to work without paychecks through the partial government shutdown, have called out from work this week from at least four major airports."

So Trump retweeted this and called it a "great tweet" -

Meanwhile, from the TSA:

"The TSA experienced a national average of 6.1% unscheduled absences compared to 3.7% on the same day last year. Many employees are reporting that they are not able to report to work due to financial limitations." At least three airports have closed terminals as a result.

Trump is now claiming the TSA is grossly misrepresenting their own stats, and is disseminating "fake news?"

It did indeed get corrupted during the changeover.  I figure this is a good time for a second (or third, or ninth) chance for several people here.  Let's see what they do with it.

I wondered about that. I log in and the whole place has changed. Wait, what? I can see and enter everything? After a couple of years of just being able to access Bonfire, Gear and Rigging, and Incidents but nothing else... I'll try to appreciate the second chance, or however many it is.

Trump is getting worried about his core supporters getting disillusioned with his historic shutdown.  What to do?  If only there was some way to scare them and get them to rally around him . . .

Trump today:  "Honduras is doing nothing for us. Guatemala is doing nothing for us. El Salvador is doing nothing for us . . .[they] encourage the caravans because they want to get rid of the people from their country. The caravan, they're saying, is massive. The caravan that's coming up. Thank you very much, Honduras."
