New To The Sport

Recommended Posts

Hello my name is Shane and I am new the the sport. I am almost done getting my "A", just need to do some packs when the weather permits for it. Excited as all, but so MUCH to learn!!!! Currently looking for a rig and that is such a daunting task to make sure you get what you really need. Thankfully I have some good instructors at my local DZ that are a great help!!!

Welcome to the sport.

Someday someone will say...."....you will want to downsize your canopy."

Some of the best advice I ever received was regarding downsizing. If the desire to continue jumping is at the top of your priority list, make sure downsizing is not competing for top place.

You should be here...
I can land this thing safely even when things go bad (not as planned)

You should not be here.....
I can land this thing safely as long as things go as planned.
Instructor quote, “What's weird is that you're older than my dad!”

Welcome, it's a heck of a journey.

Just as something to keep in the back of your mind. Listen as much as you can, in general if old guys tell you not to do something, there is probably a good reason for it even if they don't articulate it well. Be more skeptical if they say something that might be sketchy is "ok." :D
