swoopgirl 0 #1 December 14, 2018 Sooooo..... when are y'all going to talk about ground launching and how much it improves canopy skills? Do you even ground launch bro? danielcroft 2 #2 December 14, 2018 Sure, once you become experienced at one, it can help your progression in the other. Totally makes sense but, there are many different considerations from one sport to the next that don't overlap. Confidence in one should not create confidence in the other that's dangerous - as proven by many - or fatal - as proven by some.

I launched my 59 sqft Icarus NEOS off the same hill a few times. On this one, I hit some dirty air right at take off. https://www.facebook.com/daredevilgirldiana/videos/215842822677070/ Have you ever ground launched a skydiving wing? It's quite fun and even just mastering kitting your wing can improve canopy skills greatly!!YouTube Channel name is Daredevil Girl https://www.youtube.com/daredevilgirldiana
danielcroft 2 #4 December 19, 2018 Where'd the dirty air come from? I've never ground launched a skydiving wing, I've launched a few different speed wings and paragliders. Kiting is one of the best ways to learn you wing which is why I kite my skydiving wings and PG when I can and it's safe to do so.
yoink 321 #5 December 20, 2018 swoopgirl Have you ever ground launched a skydiving wing? It's also not the brightest idea in the world and we probably shouldn't encourage it. Sure, 5 or 6 years ago when we started we used skydiving wings but there are now so many specialist speedflying wings available, and there are so many people with experience who can loan you one and teach you how to use it that I wouldn't recommend someone just goes up a hill with their skydiving wing. You wouldn't use a skydiving wing for base jumping, would you? Still, that is some particularly sweet soaring in the video. Stuff paragliders are taught to do as a matter of course but is foreign to most skydivers; and I couldn't agree more about the teaching value of kiting ANY wing. Peter Klinkner 0 #6 February 10, 2019 I've got to admit that I haven't tried ground launching it, but I got my hands on a GLS-XF 109sqf from Daedalus (http://www.nzaerosports.com/massive-information/ground-launch) It's an amazing canopy for day to day skyidiving if you are into faster landings without going x-braced, but I'm having some difficulties selling it on. Most people don't know the speedwings and are reluctant on buying them, do you guys know some market places for speedwings?

JumpRu 2 #8 February 21, 2019 To swoopgirl: you totally awesome and etc...but looking at that short clip where u fly NEOS down that hill in deep breaks does not look very safe to me. Not a big swooper myself but i've seen way to many bad things happen to small canopies after flying in deep breaks for too long. Here you doing just that close to the ground in a turbulent air ... That may not endup well
