Christ, the Democrats annoy me. - State of the Union

Recommended Posts

Watching the State of the Union address and there wasn't much of interest in the Presidents' speech for me. Small talking points maybe but one of the NBC commentators put it brilliantly - 'he'll tweet about something tomorrow and we'll forget whatever he just said.' I agree.

But the response... It leaves me doing literal facepalms.

The democrats lost the election in large part because the message of 'drain the swamp' resonates with HUGE swathes of America. Whether you like it or not a lot of voters don't like the idea of career politicians in Washington and you give the response speech to a Kennedy?? Seriously???
I can't imagine a bigger fuck-you to all those people... There isn't a more entrenched family that represents the status quo in American politics.

At this point I honestly don't know if it's tactical of the Democratic party just doesn't give a shit. And if they're that careless and arrogant they'll lose the next election cycle too...

While on general principals I agree. Certainly Jeb Bush should have stayed in Florida. If he has a message governed by principals, who gives a damn what his name is.

Fact-checking site crashes during Trump State of the Union
"PolitiFact’s website went down briefly during President Trump’s first State of the Union address.

The fact-checking website tweeted at 9:49 p.m., about halfway through Trump’s speech, that the website had crashed....

PolitiFact fact-checked the president’s speech, writing that “several of his points were factually flawed.” They rated many of his claims about tax cuts as “mostly false” or “false.”

The organization had fact-checked nearly 500 of Trump’s statements before the State of the Union, rating 21 percent as “mostly false,” 33 percent as “false” and 15 percent as “pants on fire.”
http://thehill.com/homenews/media/371557-fact-checking-site-crashes-during-trump-state-of-the-union

That would mean that 69% of all his representations were lies.

For this president I suggest a live continuous loop connection between PolitiFact and these behavior control devices to correct habitual lying:

That Kennedy needs a cat scan to see if he has brain damage. Looked like a bit of drool on the corner of his mouth while he was speaking. And Adam Baldwin won the internet last night... :D

People didn't vote for Trump so much as against smug condescending people who think anyone who disagrees with them is stupid. And at the rate those same idiots are going he might just get a second term.
A person on another list said that the fact that Nixon still had a 25% approval rating when he resigned is proof of stupid voters. He believes that there were no reasons for some people supporting Nixon. I disagree with the Nixon supporters but it was pretty obvious where they were coming from. But no, it's because everyone is stupider than him.
This country DESERVES a Donald F----- Trump.

You're right. People should be more politically correct, so that stupid people are not offended. Give them safe spaces where their opinions are not questioned, lest they think the people questioning them are "smug and condescending."

Remember - everyone should get a trophy. There are no stupid/incompetent people or opinions, and if you think there are, there's something wrong with _you._

"The Democrats in the chamber were slumped, glowery. They had chosen to act out unbroken disdain so as to please the rising left in their party..."

"Here it should be said of the rising left of the Democratic Party that they are numerous, committed, and have all the energy - it's true. But they operate at a dis advantage they cannot see, and it is that they are LOVELESS. the social justice warriors, the advancers of identity politics and gender politics, the young who've just discovered socialism - they run on RAGE. But rage is a poor fuel in politics. It produces a heavy, sulfurous exhaust and pollutes the air. It's also gets few miles per gallon. It has many powers but not the power to persuade, and if anything does them in it will be that."

Just for you, from the same author, also published in the WSJ:
http://www.peggynoonan.com/trump-is-woody-allen-without-the-humor/

A further story from her restating what Bob Corker has said about trumps unfitness for office:

"Mr. Trump was probably the only one of the 17 who would not be able to govern, for reasons of temperament, political inexperience and essential nature. It just wouldn’t work. The challenge for Republicans was to make legislative progress within that context.

It was my impression the senators were not fully receptive to my thought. Everyone was polite but things were subdued, and I wondered later if I’d gone too far, been too blunt, or was simply wrong. Maybe they knew things I didn’t. Since then I have spoken to a few who made it clear they saw things as I did, or had come to see them that way....

There are a few things to say about all this. First, when a theme like this keeps coming up, something’s going on. A lot of people appear to be questioning in a new way, or at least talking about, the president’s judgment, maturity and emotional solidity. We’ll be hearing more about this subject, not less, as time goes by.

Mr. Corker deserves credit for going public with his reservations and warnings. The U.S. is in a challenging international environment; it’s not unfair or unjust to ask if the president is up to it and able to lead through it.

But we are a nation divided on the subject of Donald Trump, as on many others, and so this is a time to be extremely careful. Unnamed sources can—and will—say anything. If you work in the White House or the administration and see what Mr. Corker sees, and what unnamed sources say they see, this is the time to speak on the record, and take the credit or the blows.

What a delicate time this is. Half the country does not see what the journalists, establishment figures and elites of Washington see. But they do see it, and they believe they’re seeing clearly. It’s a little scary. More light is needed."

Yep, read that article as well. But to remain on point as far as the post is concerned...my response was to give a glimpse into Yoink's Post "Christ, the Democrats annoy me" and a possible cause to why Dems cause irritation, exasperation, vexation, indignation, anger, or displeasure or simply just being annoying at the present moment.

The double standard is jarring though isn't it? Have you ever listened to rght wing talk radio or watched any Fox news opinion show? They are basically outrage factories. Every single day they need something to be scared of or mad at.

Were you even awake during the Trump campaign? Foreign Communist Obama, Lyin' Ted Cruz, Crooked Hillary, lock her up! Hate these people, don't they make you crazy how horrible they are, don't you just hate them yet?
Do you want to have an ideagasm?

Worse yet is the outright false statements they like to give as "facts" to support whatever insane message they're trying to spew.

"So, here are the facts: XX never happened, ABC was proven to be a secret plan to discredit our Dear Leader, and (insert some person or group here) committed (name three atrocities) but is walking the streets free! This just goes to prove peanut butter comes from outer space, and the left wants us all sterile so they secretly ensure its in EVERYTHING we eat!"

As someone who has worked in the news business, I'm increasingly frustrated that these people can so get away with the blatant falsehoods and false premise and call themselves "news." The average listener doesn't know how to tell the difference between a properly sourced report and this steaming pile of nonsense. I'm frustrated that because of this ignorance, any outlet reporting with journalistic integrity (yes, this does exist), is summarily dismissed as propaganda, yet this crap continues to be distributed (and shared/forwarded) as gospel.

What bothers me is that I've never watched or listened to Fox. Well, except for a few very unsettling minutes while in some waiting room and can't get any from it. But when I say something people disagree with, four out of five times they'll say "well, that's just because you get all of your news from Fox." It's annoying. "This soup is too salty" "Well then quit watching Fox News."

the election season will be great fun and quite painful to watch

Pain - constant reruns of the Democrats sitting on their hands and Nancy's dumbfounded look and constant irritation

Fun - the Republicans will craft a great ad talking about how they will stand up for the voters

and the FISA stuff will be added in for dessert
Give one city to the thugs so they can all live together. I vote for Chicago where they have strict gun laws.

And, it's not just the right doing it - the left is just as much to blame for not vetting, corroborating and sourcing "news." We've become a society fueled by first to post/air some information; than one of quality to post/air valid information.
Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

What really amazes me is how the Republicans have developed a great skill in making the Democrats dance to whatever tune they want. When Trump said basically "black people, what do you have to lose?" they started (I'm not kidding, read Mary Sachez editorial) saying that inner city blacks live a wonderful life right out of the Huxtables. It was one thing after another like that. I remember hearing people talk about that as "Trumps latest gaff with black voters." It's like they were willing to believe anything as long as it fit the idea of HRC being the next President.

It's worse listening to Hannity on the radio. I like to tune in to some of the conservative and religious talk shows every now and then, just to hear about their issues and points of view. But damn, last time I did I got Hannity. It was absolutely insane. I didn't have time to deconstruct just the faulty premises (yep, multiple untruths in one sentence/background setting), let alone understand how they thought the crazy they were spewing was supposed to help anyone do anything. It was scary.

>You want annoying? Try Nancy Pelosi spewing shit about dreamers and DACA for EIGHT
>hours on the Senate floor.

?? You didn't have to listen to it. The people trying to block DACA did - and they get annoyed, good.

She's trying to protect illegal immigrants, got it. No wonder they're annoyed.
