Abusing power like that is really far worse that paying off a porn star 10 years days before becoming an office holder.

I fixed it for you, and I disagree. Had Clinton tried to pay off Lewinski in order to cover up the affair, there is virtually zero chance he would have completed his term. Nobody cares about the Trump/Stormy affair. The cover-up is the crime of interest.

I think the biggest benefit of continuing this is that there is little Trump supporters can point to when trying to show he's "just like them." It's good to have tools in the toolbox for countering the religious zealots who try to glaze over his "misdeeds" in the future. That is the case I want to see built -- not just one or two little anecdotes, but a pattern that turns into data. The more of his crooked advisors and lawyers that can be held accountable for their own unethical behavior (whether simply court of public opinion, or by consequences with their respective bar associations or the law schools where they teach/advise), the more support can be whittled away. I'd like to hope that a new era of ethics and public SERVICE will emerge, but I'm a realist. We won't get that far, but I do hope we'll get to the point where Trump will have so little support and so few people left willing to give him money or go into business.

Of course, it would be great if one of those converts turns out to be someone in a position to start the investigation into how egregiously the whole Trump family has capitalized on the office. We'll see.

Stormy Daniels' lawyer: Cohen was paid $500K by Putin-tied company after election
Stormy Daniels’s attorney Michael Avenatti said Tuesday that President Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen received $500,000 in the months after the 2016 election from a company run by a Russian oligarch with ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/386802-stormy-daniels-lawyer-cohen-may-have-used-money-from-putin-tied

Avenatti released a report with preliminary findings about the bank account he says Cohen used to make the payment to Daniels. That account was made in the name of the company Cohen created to transfer the money to Daniels, Essential Consultants, LLC.

The report states that Cohen’s account received roughly $500,000 in payments from Russian oligarch Viktor Vekselberg. Those payments were made from January to August 2017.

“Mr. Cohen inexplicably accepted these payments while he was the personal attorney to the President and holding himself out at times as employed by the Trump Organization (with few other clients),” the report reads.

“This was occurring at the same time significant questions were being raised relating to (a) the involvement of Russia and Vladimir Putin in the 2016 Presidential Election and (b) the extent of the relationship between Mr. Putin and Mr. Trump."

The report also claims that the bank account received payments totally nearly $400,000 from global pharmaceutical company Novartis, and noted that Trump reportedly had a dinner meeting in Switzerland with the Novartis CEO shortly afterward the transactions were made.

This is the Cohen allegations according to Avenatti:

Now, there has been a recent push by trump and republicans including their spokespeople at Fox News. To shut down the Mueller investigation. Mueller is of course on top of this development already:

>I'm eagerly looking forward to Giuliani appearing on Fox to explain it all away!

Giuliani: Look, it's quite simple. Cohen took money from Russia to help Trump with his porn star problem, so he'd have a better chance of winning the election. Cohen does this kind of stuff all the time. He's a fixer. He fixes things like elections. Nothing illegal about that. Fixing isn't illegal.

Interviewer: Well, in fact, it is illegal if he accepted money from . . .

Giuliani: Hang on there. I deal in law, not facts. And I can tell you 100% from my experience as a lawyer and with 9/11 - did you know I was mayor of New York during 9/11? - there's nothing illegal here. Nothing illegal! Now that I explained it all, this will end the controversy.

WaPo: AT&T CEO: Hiring Trump lawyer Michael Cohen was ‘a big mistake’
https://www.google.com/search?q=AT%26T+CEO%3A+Hiring+Trump+lawyer+Michael+Cohen+was+%E2%80%98a+big+mistake%E2%80%99+site%3Awashingtonpost.com&oq=AT%26T+CEO%3A+Hiring+Trump+lawyer+Michael+Cohen+was+%E2%80%98a+big+mistake%E2%80%99+site%3Awashingtonpost.com&aqs=chrome..69i57.8795j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

And AT&T has booted Bob Quinn, who is AT&T's senior executive vice president of external and legislative affairs.
I wonder if he really made the decision, or if he is just the designated scapegoat.

Speaking of glass houses... Stormy's lawyer Avenatti apparently didn't pay some $5 million in payroll taxes to the IRS from a company he took over through his own LLC.

Plus, he's gonna have to answer some questions on how he got Cohen's bank records, potentially illegally BTW.

>>In other words, to a Trump supporter, he's a genius.

>Your post is out of line.

CLINTON: . . .Or maybe he doesn’t want the American people, all of you watching tonight, to know that he’s paid nothing in federal taxes, because the only years that anybody’s ever seen were a couple of years when he had to turn them over to state authorities when he was trying to get a casino license, and they showed he didn’t pay any federal income tax.

TRUMP: That makes me smart.

I don't know if you've heard... but Avenatti isn't the President, and doesn't work for the President.

He may well be an asshole, he might even be a criminal, I have absolutely no idea. But the thing is, it doesn't actually matter. He's not in charge of anything important like, say, your entire country.
Do you want to have an ideagasm?

Cohen’s business partner strikes plea deal: report
http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/388881-cohens-business-partner-to-cooperate-with-prosecutors-as-part-of-plea-deal

A longtime business associate of President Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen has reportedly agreed to cooperate with government prosecutors as part of a plea deal. ...

In return, Freidman got five years of probation for pleading guilty Tuesday to a single count of evading $50,000 worth of taxes. Freidman, who was reportedly disbarred earlier this month, had faced four counts of criminal tax fraud and one of grand larceny, each carrying a possible sentence of up to 25 years."

No wonder trump, Fox News, Nunes and the trump base are all in a tizzy.
