The real question is "how crazy are Americans who thought Trump would make a good POTUS?"

I disagree, I think the question is are there still enough crazy Americans to re elect Trump! I’ll be honest, I will not be surprised if he wins again

I wouldn't either.

There are people in this country that spent several years attacking women who said they had been sexually assaulted or raped.  "It's a he said-she said."  "Suspicious that they waited so long!"  "They just want their big book-deal payday."  "If they were really raped they would have come forward long ago."  "She's ugly anyway; no one would assault her."  Now they are outraged that not everyone is taking Biden's accuser seriously.

There are people who spent months supporting police against claims that they were being brutal to blacks.  Now they support the bearded guy in the picture below.

There are people in this country that say they are against working with other countries, because America.  And they are supporting a man who was elected with heavy Russian influence, and who received hundreds of millions of dollars from China.

There are people in this country who have stockpiled guns and ammunition so that they can defend themselves from societal collapse.  Who, after being told to stay home for a few months, are ready to riot because they can't get a tattoo or go to the hairdresser.

There are people in this country who spent years railing against socialism and communism.  Then when their government bailout check comes, complain that it didn't get there fast enough and that it's not enough.

Clinton was right.  There are a lot of deplorables in America who have no morals, other than "fuck you, I got mine."  And they may well get Trump re-elected.

it is completely beyond comprehension, that the american electoral system made it possible for a complete jerk like djt  to become potus.
what was scary in the first place, that this blithering *********** got that many votes after a classy president like obama (not that I liked all of the stuff he did or had to do...)

Most scary of all is the fact that the american public has degraded to a state where a second term for the embarrasment in the office is more than possible.

edit 2 add: as long as the u.s. doesn't get beyond a two-party system which basically cames across like two kinds of the same shit in different color/smell, you and the rest of the world will have to deal with interesting times

So, what do you think about your Potus now?

I am not sure crazy is the right word but he sure is one wacky dude.

I said this before the 2016 election and I will say it again, we need a third choice on the ballot,  None Of The Above.

I can't tell you how much I'm disappointed in the two choices we have.

The R nomination was not ever going to change.

I was truly, honestly hoping that the Ds would choose someone that is not only capable of winning the election, but better than "marginally good enough" and has a #1 best trait of, "At least he's not Trump".

I am sure there are a number of smart, well qualified people who would make a good president.  They are probably smart enough not to want to be president.

If Trump is elected, he will be gone after 4 more years. If Biden is elected, he will probably not last more than 4 years if that due to his age.  Let's hope we have good choices in 2024.

Well statistics say otherwise. trumps current life expectancy is 12.4 years and Biden's is 9.94.  Biden is in better physical condition, contrary to the quack doctor that said about trump “his strength and physical stamina are extraordinary” astonishingly excellent.”

Didn't they say similar things about Reagan in his last term?

I can't remember any bad comments about Regan. That was a different era where the office had respect. Regan was a people person and used those skills to get what he wanted. He also knew how to delegate. He surrounded himself with a good cabinet.

Americans who thought he would make a good POTUS. Were likely people who are easily sold a bill of goods. Many of the usual bunch here have been around the block a couple times and could recognize flim-flam when they heard it. Promises in every corner of the spectrum that most adults knew could never be met. Then a swath of larceny.

There was talk that he was suffering from Alzheimer's. Partly because of age, partly because Alzheimer's was all over the news at that time (making it the go-to for every forgetful moment), and partly because Reagan wasn't a detail person.

And maybe he was in the very early stages; he died of it 15 years after he left office. But if so, he was compensating completely, and everyone has forgetful moments etc.

Yet his lack of attention to detail never hampered his presidency. Because he had such a strong cabinet and Nancy. Perhaps his prior work kept him on script when media and public appearances was necessary. Sorry about that!

trump's lack of attention to detail on the other hand leads to all sorts of screw-up.

Imagine what the press of today would do to Reagan, as he showed signs of senility.

Its already starting with Biden. (Not senility, the accusation and mocking)

Yes, it is starting with Biden. I'm glad to see you including right-wing media in "the press."

BTW, there are plenty of disaffected Bernie supporters and progressives who hate the choice. It'll be a challenge to get them out to vote. I have relatives among that number.

And it was from the press that I heard about Reagan "showing his age." It was even a topic in one of his debates, if you'll recall. And I completely agree that his willingness to select and rely on competent help is a good example of how a team will just about always do better than a lone wolf in a complex situation. A realtime smaller one maybe not, but running a country generally can't be described as a realtime small situation.
