councilman24 36 #1 March 28, 2018 I don't have a lot of experience with upt Spectra ripcord. Is it common for the entire bungee cluding the black outer sheath to break and separate? I seen photos of broken interior rubber strands but not the complete Bungie separated.I'm old for my age. Terry Urban D-8631 FAA DPRE
Deyan 31 #2 March 28, 2018 I don't know how common, but I've seen it happen twice. What I see lately (the last year) is that they've changed the stitch that holds the bungee inside the line. It was with a bartack in the past, now is 3 rows of 301 stitch. That does make difference on the life span of the shock cord! You are MR, check if you can do a "repair" on the ripcord according to your local rules. Wasn't much of a help I'm afraid, but it's all I can offer "My belief is that once the doctor whacks you on the butt, all guarantees are off" Jerry Baumchen
councilman24 36 #3 March 28, 2018 No, thanks for reply. I ordered a new one. Old one was pretty old original with some wear. And apparently UPT changed size for this serial number. I knew it was wasn't right but took me few minutes to realize it was all stretched out. Just didn't know how often this happened. Are three rows 301 better or worse for durability?I'm old for my age.
