captain1976 0 #1 July 8, 2010 Well, it was Thursday July 8th 1982 about this time of day when we lost a great guy as well as a real pioneer in our sport. I remember him as a great friend and I was unfortunately the pilot on that load. His last words to me were "thanks Mikey" as he fell away from the plane for the last time. Here's to you Jimmy! Rest in peace old friendYou live more in the few minutes of skydiving than many people live in their lifetime
patworks 5 #2 July 9, 2010 Right on. Both Jan and I hold Jim Stoyas in high regard. He was an esteemed friend and fine person. He radiated the energy of blue skies but the reaper nabbed him that jump. It was a sad thing to lose him. lodestar 0 #4 December 25, 2010 Jimmy was one of those guys who knew everyone, I remember his Dad owned a pharmacy on the north side of Chicago. He was an active jumper and many times I flew him on loads in Rainbow, Bong AFB and various meets throughout the Chicago area. We often ended up at his girlfriends (Helene Tozier) parents place on a lake in northern Illinois for the weekends. A great man and will be missed and remembered well. Blue Skies Jimmy...
