In December 2016, the World Economic Forum reported that as the cost of producing wind turbines has fallen by more than 30% in the last three years, the cost of electricity from wind power has fallen to $50 per megawatt hour on average worldwide, without subsidies. That’s half the cost of coal.

Only one thing to do in that case - abandon wind and go all-in on coal. Who needs cheap, clean energy when you can have politically correct dirty, expensive energy?

You're entirely ignoring that if we ramp up coal production then by the economy of scale it will become cheaper and the saving can be used to make spaceships to get us off this burned out planet.

And still, to this day, no commercial wind farm in the US will make economic sense without tax breaks.

In other words, they can not stand on their own.
Period!

If Germany can do it, we can do it.

Germany Strikes Offshore Wind Deals, Subsidy Not Included

LONDON — European governments have spent large sums of money in recent years subsidizing giant offshore wind projects in hopes of creating a clean source of energy that could eventually pay for itself. Now that moment may be here — and a lot sooner than expected.

On Thursday, the Danish company Dong Energy, the largest offshore wind developer, won the right to build two large wind projects in the German North Sea with no government subsidies — a highly symbolic first for the industry.

Where does it say they will make money or at least cover cots?

The symboligy is cool, I guess:|

>Where does it say they will make money or at least cover cots?

It was a good enough risk for an energy company from a different country to invest in it. Without subsidies.

So it doesn't

Got it.

thanks

Alright, THIS is funny.

A 'certain country' has criticized Trump for pulling out of the Paris Agreement.

Calling it:
Quote

“the height of egotism and moral vacuum seeking only their own well-being at the cost of the entire planet.”

When the 'moral high ground' is legitimately claimed over the US, I sometimes cringe.

But by North Korea?

Really?

Trump has taken us to the point that the DPRK can legitimately claim that they are better than the US?

Who are understandably kinda busy right now, which leaves... The US. Well done on achieving pariah state status.

One of the best things Trump has done so far.

The best thing that asshole has done so far is just be himself and act like a total jerk. It keeps him from being effective at pursuing his American Idiot agenda. In the meantime here in Canada our PM has decided that appeasing him is not an effective strategy. We are now committed to waiting out the storm. Trump is not going to be there too long at this rate.

Yep, its right up there - he certainly set his bar very low.

More people are employed by Arby's than the ENTIRE coal industry.
Arby's is shit IMO, but I avoid fast food crap anyway.
Department stores have lost more jobs than the coal industry. Stoopid internets.
Solar has TWICE as many as coal employees. Stoopid sun.
Solar has more employees than oil, gas, and coal COMBINED! Stoopid technology.

I still miss field engineering on main frame computer systems!
Stoopid human advances in technology.

I know what you mean. Using *coal* and*steam* was just to summarize DT's way back to the stone age in one simple example. It was my reply to rushmc, so ....

BTW: Since few weeks, we are proud users of solar technique at home.B|
