Hmm. I wonder what Trump would have to panic about?

Donald Trump Pulls Mysterious Vanishing Act, Abruptly Leaving Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony Without Notice

Nathan Francis
Inquisitr

Donald Trump made a hasty retreat from the Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Wednesday, going back to the White House in his motorcade while leaving the press pool behind and then putting a cap on appearances for the day. . . .

The quick slip on Wednesday after the Christmas tree lighting ceremony caused quite a bit of drama and sparked rumors on Twitter that Donald Trump suffered a “panic attack” that caused him to leave.

Over the past few days the outlook for Trump - or as he is now better known in the Mueller investigation, 'Individual 1' - has gotten significantly bleaker.

First there is Cohen's agreement to work with Mueller. Cohen's testimony provides an important motive for Trump's abasement before Putin - Trump very much wanted a project in Russia to go forward, and he knew he would need Putin's approval for it. And once Trump lied about not having any business connections in Russia, then Putin had power over him. Putin merely need threaten to reveal that Trump lied to bring him to heel. Which explains Putin's power over Trump.

This also exposes Trump's family. Cohen “briefed family members of Individual 1" about the project - and they have all denied it as well. Given that one of them was instrumental in the coverup of the Trump Tower meeting with the Russian agent, this puts Trump Jr in very hot water. Jared as well, although he will likely be able to claim that he didn't know very much. (And may well escape jail time if he cooperates.)

In addition, dangling a pardon before a witness to alter their testimony is a very clear case of witness tampering, which leads to an obstruction of justice charge. The case for obstruction was somewhat weak before. After his comment it got a lot stronger.

Based on his tweets and his behavior in public (and in private) Trump is now in a full-blown panic. His firing of Sessions and appointment of Whitaker was a last ditch effort to try to derail the investigation. His previous efforts to pull off a Saturday night massacre were thwarted by the remaining responsible members of his administration, but they have largely left. I'd expect to see such another such attempt fairly soon, as Trump realizes that tweeting and bombast will not save him from a credible investigation into his actions.

“Michael Cohen asks judge for no Prison Time.” You mean he can do all of the TERRIBLE, unrelated to Trump, things having to do with fraud, big loans, Taxis, etc., and not serve a long prison term? He makes up stories to get a GREAT & ALREADY reduced deal for himself, and get his wife and father-in-law (who has the money?) off Scott Free. He lied for this outcome and should, in my opinion, serve a full and complete sentence."

“I will never testify against Trump.” This statement was recently made by Roger Stone, essentially stating that he will not be forced by a rogue and out of control prosecutor to make up lies and stories about “President Trump.” Nice to know that some people still have “guts!”

Bob Mueller (who is a much different man than people think) and his out of control band of Angry Democrats, don’t want the truth, they only want lies. The truth is very bad for their mission!

Trump is shitting bricks on Twitter

Who is "Scott Free"?

So people who lie to protect their families and family businesses from legal scrutiny should get full and complete sentences.

I agree! And perhaps someone will remind individual 1 that he said this when indictments come down.

The really funny part about that is that a pardon for Manafort would be a bad thing for Trump.
It would remove any chance of Manafort being able to not testify. He couldn't claim the 5th, because after being pardoned, he couldn't incriminate himself.

So he'd have to testify or face jail for contempt.

Somehow I doubt that Trump realizes this.

Subpoenas target more than 30 Trump-linked private entities and the federal agency that oversees the lease for Trump’s D.C. hotel. Subpoenas were also being sent to the Department of Defense, General Services Administration, Department of Commerce, Department of Agriculture and the IRS, all of which have spent taxpayer dollars at the hotel.

Looks like Trump, and his businesses will have to show IRS records now.

Quote from the sentencing memo:

Flynn assisted the Special Counsel’s Office with information “concerning links or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the Trump campaign.” Sure sounds like collusion.

Mueller clearly knows a lot more than he's been revealing. This is better than "House of Cards".

Also from the sentencing memo:

“The defendant deserves credit for accepting responsibility in a timely fashion and substantially assisting the government. The defendant’s decision to plead guilty and cooperate likely affected the decisions of related firsthand witnesses to be forthcoming and cooperate,”

Uh oh. I wonder who else has come forth.

Prosecutors: Michael Cohen acted at Trump's direction when he broke the law
By Erica Orden and Marshall Cohen, CNN

Updated 0325 GMT (1125 HKT) December 8, 2018

New York - Federal prosecutors said for the first time Friday that Michael Cohen acted at the direction of Donald Trump when the former fixer committed two election-related crimes during the 2016 presidential campaign, as special counsel Robert Mueller outlined a previously undisclosed set of overtures and contacts between the Trump campaign and Russian nationals.

Those revelations came in a set of court filings in which federal prosecutors in New York said Cohen should receive a "substantial" prison sentence of roughly four years for tax fraud and campaign-finance crimes, and as Mueller's office accused the President's former attorney of lying about his contacts with Russia.

Mueller's disclosures also exposed deeper entanglements than previously known between Trump, his campaign apparatus and the Russian government, including that a Russian national who claimed to be well-connected in Moscow spoke with Cohen in 2015 and offered "political synergy" with the Trump campaign.
===============================
New Yorker:

On Friday, federal prosecutors released two memorandums on Michael Cohen, one from Department of Justice prosecutors with the Southern District of New York, the other from the office of the special counsel Robert Mueller. While they are ostensibly designed to guide Cohen’s sentencing, they carry far greater weight. These documents make clearer than ever before the case against President Trump. The special counsel’s seven-page memorandum, along with court documents from Cohen’s guilty plea last week, lay out a straightforward time line.
===============================

What did Trump have to say?

“Totally clears the President. Thank you!”

If Mueller "clears" him any further he may not make it to the end of his term.
