Poll, how do you feel about Trump's entry ban on select nationals

Recommended Posts

The world is in an uproar, or at least a lot of the world outside America is. I keep seeing FB posts denouncing it, but few from American friends, and even some in support.

So I am wondering, how do Americans feel about it?

Saudi Arabia was the origin of 15 out of 19 hijackers on 9/11, but it is exempt from the ban.
Pakistan was where Bin Laden was living when he was caught, but it is exempt from the ban.

In the presented form, it's unconstitutional. Any citizen - regardless of political leaning - should consider it a non-starter based on that alone.

As Ryoder mentions it's also not targeting the countries that produced the terrorists of 9/11, whose actions Trump is stating the law is a reaction to.

And lastly, it's a wee bit interesting that the countries that are targeted he doesn't have businesses in. The ones he does have businesses in are not.

Those would be core arguments against it. But in addition IS is at war with Iran. Iran has many troops and proxy forces fighting IS. Iranian citizens would be monitored, vetted so to speak as well as Saudi or Egyptian citizens.

Plays good with the core trump base. Ignorant of the concepts of propaganda and how its used in the conservative Islamic terrorist mindset.

So its a week into the trump "100 day honeymoon". He has alienated NPS, CIA, Mexico,China, 1.6 billion Muslims, reinforced the world opinion that he's a liar, buffoon, insinuated that he was going to get and keep Iraq's oil this time, etc.

Perhaps a poll on how many weeks for the trump honeymoon?

The liar part I don't get, he has stuck to his word no?

Don't get me wrong, I think it is all about rash, but no as much as storming another country and killing the civilians there.

This part of foreign policy I am watching in interest.

If he pulls out of wars abroad and enhances security at home.... good move. If he enhances war abroad and ruins domestic access... then that would be stupid.

What we are seeing is change, and that is a promise Obama failed to deliver.

At least Trump is delivering his promised, like them or not.

That's like saying you'd be happy if some thug promised to rape your wife and then did.

Oh look, he carried out his promise, like them or not.

That's ridiculous.

Lol, No that us not the same.

It is safe to say that if Trump campaigned on raping people, he wouldn't have won. But he campaigned on promises, won and is keeping those promises amid stark opposition.

The results will be interesting. I personally don't think he is being as strategic as he could be, but at least he is not giving hundreds of billions away to bankers, like the last chump did.

Trump will have his financial crisis, because Obama did nothing to liquidate the toxic debt 8 years ago. What trump.does in the middle east and with the looming crisis... will be guys big test.

Obama failed on both subjects, because he did what he was told to do. Trump is calling his own shots which is something I can respect. Whether I like the oucome or not.

Two of his big three campaign promises were 'lock her up' and 'drain the swamp' and he's dropped those like hot potatoes.

The selectivity concerns me.

I lived in Germany when National Socialism was a banned organization and Mein Kampf was illegal as a result of their track record. If we recognized Islam as a terrorist ideology and the Koran as hate speech, blocking adherents at the border would be cut and dried.

In the same sense that you have Nazis that are already here but anyone new would be denied a green card or citizenship, belonging to an organization whose rule book very clearly mandates beheading for anything from verbal disagreement on up, and states quite clearly that rape and paedophelia are quite all right, should be a basis for exclusion.

Don't get me wrong, I think anyone who adheres strictly to Mosaic Law (not quite as bad as Sharia, but up there) has something wrong with them, and the 'followers' of that Nazorean guy that the Romans executed are generally FUBAR, but right now the virulent Universal Ideology of concern springs from the illiterate psychopathic pervert whose ramblings are sacred to to a quarter of the world's population.

Consider it an IQ test.

"Does this make sense to you."

"Why yes, I believe it completely!"

"You're an idiot. Next!"

I think it's like a battle where you kill more civilians than military targets and say "oh well, collateral damage." It also makes it clear that we're "at war" with Muslims who don't have money or other interest for us, which means that we care more about money and image than we do about anything else.

All in all, a huge mistake.

For every butthurt outspoken liberal on Facebook, there are 10 hard working people working 3 jobs to make ends meet and support the said liberals entitlements...

I am enjoying watching the meltdown.

Change at last.

I would rather it was Bernie, but the status quo lost and that is the main thing.

Once people tire of being told how to react, or simply work out the futile nature of acting that way, things will return to relative normality.

In the meantime, enjoy the show.

Blatantly unconstitutional. Presenting it and talking about it as they have done, as being religiously selective, it's almost like they want to pick a fight they can't win.

Exactly. A trump hotel in a foreign nation gets those residents US nationwide admission. After all, his business would dry up if travel to the US was restricted from those countries! Even the princelings couldn't visit their own hotels! Those without are denied until negotiations with Ivanka, Eric and Donald Jr., are complete. With appropriate non-refundable deposits to Trump International having cleared the bank.

And the people who have been detained, interrogated and not released? Any more thoughts on them?

What about the confusion around the implementation of this order that was rushed through so hastily that no-one was even sure who was covered by it now, let alone what the long term consequences will be? Any thoughts about that?

You mean like the ACA? :P

Fortunately, in this country we have three branches of government. I believe the ACLU has filed suit in Federal court blocking this order. I expect an injunction early this week. Then, we'll let the courts decide what we are able to do.

You guys act as if we have traded our Republic for a dictatorship.

You'd think we could be smarter than this. Just some blanket ban based on country of origin doesn't seem effective to me.

Plus if you think it is a good idea(which I don't), how is Saudi Arabia not on that list?

Even Dick Chaney thinks this is a bad idea.
