Dems...what is it that scares you about Trump?

*** Trump has appointed South Carolina Republican Congressman Mick Mulvaney to direct the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).

Based on his track record in Congress, the US will default on the national debt and use Trump's proven method of dealing with debts: declare bankruptcy and stick it to your creditors.

******I'd imagine they'd like to have a "talk" with Alec Baldwin.

Though I like the idea of Alec Baldwin getting beat up....I think the Secret Service should be on the job here.

Maybe we compromise - the Secret Service can beat up Baldwin.

Why? This makes me kind of like him.

Want programs to bring back coal, US heavy industry and rebuild the infrastructure.

It's these people I feel sorry for. They are the ones who are really going to suffer and at this point don't understand what they voted in.

Trump will do his usual thing and tell them how great he has been, but at some point people are going to start noticing the lack of clothes on the new emperor. (And his tiny orange fingers)

You do realize, of course, that this is the only way countries have emerged from massive debt when using fiat currency.

If and when the U.S. Dollar reverts to its inherent net value (zero, since it's not backed by anything), the National Debt can be covered by the afternoon's sales at a hot dog stand.

The problem then is that nobody in their right mind would offer us any credit, and it would be a pay as you go economy at that point. Since we are a net importer of energy, food, textiles, electronics, etc., this may result in some minor economic disturbances. Think Venezuela or Zimbabwe, but an order of magnitude worse.

When the US of A has to figure out how to manufacture shoes, toys, ballpoint pens, teevees and the like, there will be quite the learning curve. About the only thing we export more than import is weapons, and trading advanced weaponry to people you just stiffed is not generally viewed as a bright move.

Not to worry - we'd be fucked regardless of who won the last election. At least this way we get the entertainment value of watching SJW meltdown in the meantime.

It was fun while it lasted,

Go ahead and take a careful look at it. What you're looking for is that vertical plummet right at the start of December 6. That's over 100 times the "penny" you said. That's movement that could not have been predicted by anyone without knowledge of Trump's tweet.

The second thing I want you to look at is how many shares of stock are normally traded. The blue line just prior to then plunge in stock price before the tweet.

See it?

What's that about? I think it's worth somebody looking at.

Facts are immaterial to the reich wing conservatards. It is completely pointless to introduce factual material into any communications with those people. They simply DO NOT CARE about factual information. The only information they believe is that which supports their beliefs. Any contrary information is discarded.

It takes a studiously applied deliberate ignorance to be a Reich Wing Conservatard. Picking out only the information (however disproven to be incorrect) that support their beliefs is how their minds work.

Half the population is of less than average intelligence. That is how we got to where we are now. Ignorant, ill informed people with completely defective bullshit detectors voted in the Russian backed Rump. I never thought I would see the day where Putin's pal could actually fool a good portion of the US population into voting for him.

The fact that he picked a recipient of a Medal of Friendship from Putin as the SecState is truly amazing.

The insane MYTH of a "liberal media" is completely exposed by the lack of response to the nomination of another of Putin's pals as SecState. If Hilary Clinton had done the same, the banner headlines on every news site would be in 48 point font, starting the day the nomination was made, and continuing until it was withdrawn. The facts are totally obvious.

On the bright side for the racist misogynistic TURDS that voted for Rump, there won't be a nigger and his family in the White House on January 21, 2017. Happy times.

The Rump family won't be moving in to the White House. They'll stay in New York and fuck up the whole neighborhood around Rump Tower because they care so much about the USA and small businesses. Especially the small businesses around Rump Tower. Rump's concern for those businesses is the same as all the contractors that he fucked over with the Atlantic City casino construction and operations - none at all.

This country is fucked. A worthless maggot made it as POTUS. The USA is a laughingstock of the world. We'll be at war with China over trade and the South China Sea, while getting into the middle east with boots on the ground and body bags coming home.

Calling the Republican party the RED party makes perfect sense. They are now closely aligned with Putin and Russia.

Thank you, worthless maggots. You really fucked over the USA now. How is it that you came to hate the USA, it's government, and all of the values this country used to stand for?

I could feel the blood pressure rising right through the keyboard.

I was thinking about the severe damage to the White House of a trump renovation to the historic home.

Imagine the Committee for the Preservation of the White House having to make the tough decision after four years. Thats its easier to bulldoze the building and rebuild from scratch. Rather than have it keep looking like a trump casino.

Distasteful as I find Trump, the saving grace of him winning is getting to witness the complete meltdown of those who preferred the other candidate.

Considering quite who goes on record calling him a poopy head and on what basis, I am beginning to suspect that he has more going for him than I would have guessed.

Carry on!

Subsequent to Democrats gaining control of the House, or Senate, or Presidency and trump being no longer in office. There will begin investigation to find corruption, cronyism, nepotism and assess damages.

What trump doesn't seem to understand about the courts. Is that when the US government is involved in investigations. When government sub-committees are involved in investigations. Their resources are unlimited. When he calls the media, judges and those who didn't vote for him. All conspirators against him. That puts more eyes, mouths and minds on his personal conduct.

He will answer for enjoying the spoils of the Washington swamp. That even the best advice of Goldman Sachs can't conceal everything.Hide everything, including the trails of contracts, cash and coverup.

He thinks the non-disclosure of his taxes. The failure to disclose or separate trump and princelings business interests. Will keep them secret. While self enrichment goes on.

The microscope of the presidency will set him right. Sooner, or later.

What really bothers me is that the left is surprised that foreign countries spy on us. The left does not think they do or they would have better security on their emails. Point #1 why Hillary would be bad (our secretes would be open to the world). Next they don't care what was in the emails, maybe that is why she lost. Hillary is a hot head, vile, poor excuse for a human and the people voting for Trump saw that.
Now I was not hoping for Trump but he was the best option given to me to vote for. A least I voted for the agenda presented, not the sex or color of the candidate.

Okay, so you want to know what the left is afraid of (and so should the right)?

This, right here.

Quote

Trump, Putin both seek to boost their nuclear capability

President-elect Donald Trump signaled Thursday that he will look to "strengthen and expand" the US's nuclear capability hours after Russian President Vladimir Putin pledged to enhance his country's nuclear forces.

The exchange appeared to raise the prospect of a new arms race between the two nuclear superpowers, which between them boast more than 14,000 nuclear warheads, the still deadly legacy of their four-decades long Cold War standoff.

Just think of what it'll do for the economy :|
And remember, people want to return to the safe space of the 1950's, when no one questioned the ascendency of the white male. The Cold War was part of that halcyon time. After we've both built up arsenals, Trump will piss Putin off, so that were really heading back

Having grown up in an sir force family and stationed at nuke bases, that duck and cover practice never made sense to me.
Plywood and steel desk, large glass windows.
It was pretty creepy as a kid to do that drill.

But fear is the power tool being chosen the planet over these days.
ISIS and Trump want to use it just the same.

This is written on the heels of Quade's post, but answers the main question of the thread.

This morning on CNN, morning show anchor Alisyn Camerota had Sean Spicer on for an interview, and she asked about the president-elect's messaging. She brought up the guidance everyone was given during the campaign that they should not take Mr. Trump's comments literally, and that at the time they were all kind of explained away. She further reminded him that the public was told that once elected and off the campaign trail, Mr. Trump's behavior would morph into behavior more presidential, and his comments more measured. From that, she asked him if we should now take him at his word, i.e., take his current statements literally.

Mr. Spicer said Mr. Trump's tweets now are "his own words," so they should be taken literally.

I say again: the press secretary for the next administration said in person on national television this morning that the public should accept Mr. Trump's tweets as his literal intent/meaning WRT nuclear proliferation. Mr. Trump said that we should increase our own nuclear arsenal, in order to force other countries to decrease theirs. He said we had to be prepared to use them (unlimited warfare).

We have backed off from unlimited warfare since the end of WWII, when we actually employed it. This is why the conflicts in which we've been involved since then have been more drawn out, why the argument can be made that there was not clear "winner" -- because we understand what unlimited warfare means, and don't want to go there again, and therefore have limited ourselves to what military actions (killing people and destroying things) we are willing to accept in the course of our objectives. We learned from unlimited warfare that simply killing everyone is not the answer. The side that suffers the most fatalities is not by default the "loser" -- at least not anymore. We've been called hypocrites by many countries because we employed atomic/nuclear weapons, and now try to speak out against their use. Ramping up the rhetoric, and threatening to use nuclear weapons, IMO, is the exact wrong move.

I'm an independent, not a Dem -- but THIS is one thing that very definitely scares me about the president-elect.

What really, really scares me is all the stuff that other people have said here, plus the fact that many people in our country (including the majority of Congress) will defend Trump no matter what, just because he has a R after his name.

When he starts abusing his power for personal gain, tromping on the rights of anyone who opposes him, raping the environment for short term gain, destroying the economy, installing a police state, starting unnecessary wars, etc. a good number of people will be right behind him because it means their side won and they get to stick it to all the crybaby liberals.

He's developed a cult of personality based on hyper-partisanship. That's what's really scary.

One day, someone is going to walk into the oval office and give him a piece of paper while he's tweeting and say, "Sign this, sir." Without reading and thinking about it, he will.

One day? Pretty much any day.

He doesn't read the contracts he signs. He doesn't understand the contracts he sgns. He's on record, under oath saying as much.

He is already shaping foreign policy 140 characters at a time without taking any daily intelligence briefings or understanding second and third order of effects of his "decisions" and tweets. I've been working an emerging problem set daily for about 3 months and I'm just beginning to feel comfortable. I don't have an issue with his use of Social Media, but nothing about them (as far as I can tell) are calculated use. It's an out pouring of emotions and opinions on par with a 16 year old girl on her period jamming to TSwift after a breakup.

I have friends that work in the State Department who are going crazy because they can't advise Ambassadors to key allies and partners on US Policy towards, well, anything or prepare anything meaningful because of an unfiltered Twitter account.

This man is going to get people killed or inadvertently initiate a detrimental sequence of events 140 unfiltered characters at a time.
