Donald Trump the Diplomat

Recommended Posts

So he's not even in control of his own country yet, but thinks he can suggest who other countries should appoint as Ambassadors...

Leaving aside the gross breach of etiquette, and leaving aside that he's suggesting the government should appoint someone who is in complete opposition to them, it seems like he doesn't understand that his Tweets aren't the musings of 'Donald Trump, private citizen' anymore, but the public statements of President Elect Donald Trump.

What's going to happen the next time there's an ISIS attack, or a Russian invasion etc? Is he going to be out there tweeting what he wants to do, while the White House and Pentagon are working out what to actually do?

They really need to take his twitter account away from him on security grounds. Hell, surely even close supporters must realise that his old Tweeting habits simply cannot follow him into office.

In fact, I thought senior members of the administration were all supposed to have (yes, I know he's only President Elect at this point) specially vetted and tweaked mobile devices for security reasons?

I also recall a techy article during the election campaign which said that by looking at the meta data from his tweets they could tell that the ones spouting vitriol were all done from an android device and often in the early hours of the morning whereas the ones saying how great it was to have been in [insert campaign location here] were from an Apple device and presumably from a staffer rather than him personally.

If he can actually and successfully pull out of the TPP agreement and pull US military support from Southeast Asia, shit will get real, real fast in that area.
I cannot imagine the US pulling out of South Korea. I think South Korea will have nukes at the ready and Kim Fatty the Third won't be too happy about that.
Given the hand he is showing at this point, I foresee some international disasters ahead.
His first handful of presidential challenges could prove quite interesting to say the least.

trump doesn't need a Pentagon or a State Department, he instinctively knows what is best.

And Obama has his phone and pen.:o:o

There were some things Obama said he was going to do day one too. Remember?

And posts then say much the same as you are pointing out here and now.
Cause once they get the full security briefs they do not have the full picture.
Obama didn't then and neither does Trump yet today.

So what is in the full security briefs that would change his mind on appointing a special prosecutor to go after Hillary?

And just where was this in the post I replied too?

Never mind it is not there.

More intellectual dishonesty on your part.

That what made him change his mind?

Or you are fine with him just having said it to get elected?

So you're saying Trump didn't have the full picture on anything he said regarding foreign relations and homeland security?

Not the wall, not Putin, not ISIS, not NATO, not Islamic immigration, not NAFTA, not trade tarriffs, not jobs in China... all of that is up for grabs? Everything could change once he's keyed in?

So... if he's ditched the Hillary witchhunt as well, what exactly does he have left except ripping up the first amendment?

Taking away overtime, sending medicaid to the states, and working with any country willing to build a hotel for him while removing all transparency from the leadership (except for what they carelessly display on paperwork and Twitter), and quadrupling the cost of Secret Service details while it lines his pockets?

I like the Q&A replayed on a news story I saw this morning. He doesn't seem to know what a "blind trust" is. When asked whether he'd set up a blind trust for his assets, he said he didn't know if it would be a blind trust, but he'd have his kids running the companies. Then asked if that's a blind trust?

I would think anyone with even the basic understanding of big business would know the definition of a blind trust.

Quote

A blind trust is defined by federal law as one in which a federal official selects an independent trustee (with no familial ties) who sells the official’s known assets and purchases investments unknown to the official. That is what makes it blind.

Well, you'd think that anyone with even a basic understanding of the US would know that the nuclear triad was. But we live in a new age where ignorance, emnity and prejudice are celebrated. Out of touch Ivory Tower types who have a grasp on the topics of nuclear weapons, trusts and basic grammar are not to be trusted.

Or . . . he's simply a con-man, knows what's what and is hoping to be able to just make it all work out via EO or something once he's in office.

Or he's simply a con-man, and has been for a long time.

He poses as a "businessman" and a "real estate magnate", but I doubt he knows all that much about either. He's a "TV star", but I doubt he knows much about TV production.

He's a con-man, through and through.

He tells people what they want to hear, in order to get something from them. Then he does whatever the hell he wants and they are screwed.

Look at "Trump U." Or his casinos. Or all the condo developments that had the Trump name on them, yet when they fell apart (and the investors got screwed) he had no responsibility.

Look at his so-called campaign 'promises'.

Obamacare? Not going to be repealed.
Clinton? Not going to be prosecuted.
Climate Change & Paris Accords? It's real and man made and they are going to stay.

He gave the haters a "voice" but I have a funny feeling that he's not going to fulfill many (if any) of the promises he made. Not unusual for a politician, but in Trump's case, I have a feeling he's not even going to try to keep them.
