Lock her up!

Well... looks like this campaign promise is already being discarded:

http://www.politico.com/story/2016/11/trump-clinton-investigation-kellyanne-conway-231735

“I think when the president-elect, who's also the head of your party now … tells you before he's even inaugurated he doesn't wish to pursue these charges, it sends a very strong message, tone and content, to the members,” Kellyanne Conway said. “And I think Hillary Clinton still has to face the fact that a majority of Americans don't find her to be honest or trustworthy, but if Donald Trump can help her heal, then perhaps that's a good thing.”

“Look, I think he's thinking of many different things as he prepares to become the president of the United States, and things that sound like the campaign aren't among them,” she said.

It would be hilarious if it wasn't so predictable!

What???
A well-known pathological liar isn't going to keep his word?
I'm shocked!:o

Trump isn't a pathological liar. He lied as needed to get elected, not compulsively. His campaign was a show trying for high ratings, like professional wrestling, Miss Universe, and The Apprentice.

"Crooked Hillary" was great for that, but is not good for the president of a country evenly split between his party and hers, especially if he wants Democratic legislators working with him and a second term.

It won't be coming back next TV season.

It did not start with the campaign: http://www.rawstory.com/2016/10/trumps-own-bankruptcy-lawyers-say-he-lies-so-much-they-could-only-meet-with-him-in-pairs/

Perhaps he felt it would only further divide the nation.

Further than he and the Republican party divided the nation by pushing it to the forefront of the national conversation for two years?

Your statement reminds me of a joke I heard once.

A politician dies and goes to the pearly gates. Peter says there is a new rule. Before you can go to heaven you must experience both places and then decide. So the man goes to heaven. There's harps playing and everyone is sitting on a cloud. Very peaceful.

Then he goes to hell. What a party! Open bar, food everywhere, hookers and blow all for the asking.

He goes back to St. Peter. St. peter asks him "Have you decided?" The politician tells St. peter that while heaven looks wonderful he's decided to go to Hell. Poof!

When he opens his eyes there is fire and brimstone everywhere. People dressed in rags. He asks the first person he sees what happened. "Yesterday it was such a party here. now this?" The guy looks at him and smiles. "Yesterday was the campaign. Today you voted."

Not to mention that as President Elect or even President he simply does not have the authority to follow through on that particular threat. He never did and he most likely knew that all along although his knowledge of the constitution appears to be light at best.

"Yesterday was the campaign. Today you voted."

So by analogy, the Republicans and Trump campaigned on the promise of dividing the country, but now think they can back away from it and hope the country isn't too divided already?;)

Just what he needs. Keep underestimating him.

Not underestimating. Simply stating that was always an empty campaign "promise" he never had any intention of following through with for a number of reasons. But the chant went well with the sig heils at his "gatherings".

>Trump isn't a pathological liar.

He lies even when it isn't necessary. He lies more often than any other candidate that Politifact has ever rated. Latest scores:

True 4%
Mostly true 11%
Half true 15%
Mostly false 19%
False 34%
Pants on fire 17%

I'd call that a pretty good definition of pathological liar.

I'm not sure it was politicians when I first heard it (but maybe it was)...but VERY similar context. This is a good one.

From Tony Schwartz, who spent 18 months with Trump to write the book "Art of the Deal" for Trump:

“Lying is second nature to him,” Schwartz said. “More than anyone else I have ever met, Trump has the ability to convince himself that whatever he is saying at any given moment is true, or sort of true, or at least ought to be true.” Often, Schwartz said, the lies that Trump told him were about money—“how much he had paid for something, or what a building he owned was worth, or how much one of his casinos was earning when it was actually on its way to bankruptcy.”
