And yet you support a Putin sycophant.

How would you explain to the younger version of yourself that, in the future, you would be willing to get in bed with Russia for political reasons?

And you support a cadidate that works to keep her supporters a bunch of uninformed mind dead drones.

As much as you support sexual assault and violence against women.

You really can not focus anymore can you.....

If any of that was true, you'd be the biggest Clinton supporter of all.

Agreed I can't focus on people who support violence against women and sexual assault. Nor those who continue to support people who brag about it.

Someone should inform Trump about the correct presidential election date, which is Nov. 08, 2016 - and not Nov. 28, as per his speech.

Etc., etc., etc. ....

Could someone (who's not insane) please educate me as to why you'd vote for Donald over Hilary?
Unlike Hillary he's not vehemently anti-gun,campaigning on more gun control and filling the tie-breaking Supreme Court seat with a justice who won't be "wrong" like Scalia on recent rulings. Unlike Hillary his party did not make banning the most popular guns part of their official 2016 platform. That's important to America's 80 million gun owners.

He's less supportive of immigration which is contributing to huge rent increases in cities filling enormous new office complexes with H1B holders while they permit little new residential construction (Santa Clara, CA gave developers a 99 year lease on city land to build office space for over 25,000 but only 1360 apartments. Sunnyvale, CA's proposed 20 year plan allows 42,000 jobs but just 14,000 homes). While the housing is a city problem, needed local corrections seem less likely than Trump as president.

He's not as horrible to women as Hillary Clinton.
It's a genuine question based around the fairly common - and international - perception he's a bit of a nut-job, whereas Hilary is commonly perceived as being considerably more stable; far more experienced; better for America.
Yup. Lots of people are very unhappy the Democrats nominated some one so offensive Trump isn't as bad.

***The extent of his popularity in America genuinely surprises me.

You want some one outside the establishment when your college educated children can't afford to live on their own, every pay raise is eclipsed by rising costs, and the reflating housing bubble means you're unlikely to own one again with $100K annual increases and $900K-$1M starter houses.

Among electable candidates in the primaries that meant Sanders or Trump.

Although I and many others voted for Sanders in the Democratic primary, only Trump remains.

"They will stop, they will frisk, and they will take the gun"
They'll do that to other people, where his version of "other people" is less inclusive than Hillary's.

Most murders are committed by people unable to support themselves well with legal jobs available to them where they live. Those on the winning side of economic inequality don't kill each other more than they do in other countries. Modern sporting rifles owned mostly by married middle class men over 30 were used in fewer than 50 murders a year between 2004 and 2013 according to Dianne Feinstein with no motivation to under-state her statistics.

Yeah, he fully supports the 2nd.

He says he does, which is the opposite of what his opponent says.

He's the lesser evil (partly because of that), not a good choice.

Sanders and Trump are polar opposites.

Right, just disarm inner city blacks, why do they get constitutional rights anyway?
Law abiding inner city blacks need guns and their rights should be respected.

It's too bad American politics force the rest of us to sacrifice their rights to protect ours.

WRONG.

“I was proud when my husband took [the National Rifle Association] on, and we were able to ban assault weapons, but he had to put a sunset on so 10 years later. Of course [President George W.] Bush wouldn’t agree to reinstate them,” said Clinton.

“We’ve got to go after this,” Clinton continued. “And here again, the Supreme Court is wrong on the Second Amendment. And I am going to make that case every chance I get.”

Mixed to be pedantic. Trump is less bad in practical erms.

Things like
I believe weapons of war have no place on our streets.

where calling modern sporting rifles "weapons of war" is like calling abortion "baby murder."

versus
Over the past 15 years I’ve learned a great deal about how we can protect the good people of this country from those who mean to do us harm. Gun control is not the answer—protecting the rights of law-abiding citizens is the answer. Furthermore, gun bans don’t work. Studies were done after the 1994 “assault weapons” ban expired. They clearly showed that the ban didn’t protect anyone, didn’t reduce crime. It just made it harder for law-abiding citizens to protect themselves with the firearm of their choice. Like with all things, I believe in what works, and gun bans don’t work. I have two sons who don’t just believe in the Second Amendment, they live it. They hunt, target shoot, shoot competitively and carry firearms for personal protection. They’re NRA members, and so am I. I also have a concealed-carry permit. Our commitment to the Second Amendment is unshakable.

Trump - "I support the ban on assault weapons." (from his 2000 book) Sorry about your 'sporting rifle.'

You were saying?

His present position is less anti-gun than Hillary's. He's the least of the electable evils. It'd be good to donate to PACs spending money to land him electoral college votes in swing states.

On the Today Show, asked if he'd ban assault weapons Trump replied he "absolutely wouldn't"

"There are millions of them already out there, millions upon millions, so they're already out there," Trump said. "People need protection. They have to protect. So the bad guys will have the assault rifles and the people trying to protect themselves will be standing there with a BB gun."

After getting the nomination, he said

OTOH, maybe they are the same. Hillary Clinton was a Barry Goldwater supporter and may not support the civil rights act.

So they have both said they support the Second Amendment and both have been in favor of gun restrictions in the past. You like Trump's position better; that's fine. It's also a far cry from "He says he does, which is the opposite of what his opponent says."

This is just Bravo Sierra. I've purchased guns online and at gun shows. I've been subject to background checks in both situations.

What are the loopholes?

You people are amazingly blind. Here we go again. An assault rifle is a military full auto rifle. It is not the same as a sporting rifle.

You can walk up to a guy with a booth who is doing a private sale and purchase a gun with no background check.

You can contact someone over the net (a private seller) and purchase a gun from him with no background check.

>You people are amazingly blind. Here we go again. An assault rifle is a military

The assault weapon ban (which Trump was referring to) included semiautos. To be specific, the rifles it banned had to accept a removable magazine and have two or more of the following:

A folding or telescoping stock
A pistol grip
A bayonet mount
A flash suppressor, or threaded barrel designed to accommodate one
A grenade launcher mount

Indeed, one of the biggest problems with the assault weapon ban is that it did not describe a "military full auto rifle" - it described a weapon that could have any of several attributes, and by making slight modifications (i.e. removing or adding bayonet lugs) could be moved from legal to illegal and back with no change in the effectiveness of the weapon.

It's a funny phenomenon on here. The more someone here goes on and on about their guns or their bibles, the less they seem to know about either.
