***I base my opinion of BHO on observation and scripture. You and the others do not accept scripture. Where could I go?

Well, if you are basing it on scripture, which part?

Many of us are familiar with it, even though we don't accept it as unvarnished truth.

I have a funny feeling you think BHO is the anti-christ, in addition to being a Muslim. And a Kenyan. And a Socialist. And someone who wants to destroy the country.

Nostradamus was Confused - It should read that the "Prince" would meet his demise under the rule of the Ant-Christ. Not that the Anti Christ was a prince from the east.:)

you could start with telling us where is scripture Islam is mentioned. But of course you can't, because it isn't.

Well, I don't even think "Christianity" is mentioned in the bible either.

You have to remember that Islam is an Abrahamic religion. Ishmael, the first born son of Abraham, is believed by Muslims to be the father of Islam. Abraham's wife Sarah couldn't have children so he decided to have a child with his maid-servant Hagar, who bore Ishmael.

Gen 17:20
And as for Ishmael, I have heard you: I will surely bless him; I will make him fruitful and will greatly increase his numbers. He will be the father of twelve rulers, and I will make him into a great nation.

Gen 21:13
I will make the son of the maidservant into a nation also, because he is your offspring."

Gen 16:11-12
The angel of the LORD also said to her:
"You are now with child
and you will have a son.
You shall name him Ishmael,
for the LORD has heard of your misery.

He will be a wild donkey of a man;
his hand will be against everyone
and everyone's hand against him,
and he will live in hostility
toward all his brothers."

Sarah finally gave birth to Isaac. She feared that Ishmael would be a bad influence for a variety of reasons and asked Abraham to send Hagar and the child away.

As Hagar wandered in the wilderness she cried out to God that her son doesn't die:

Genesis 21:17-18
And God heard the voice of the boy, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, “What troubles you, Hagar? Fear not, for God has heard the voice of the boy where he is. Up! Lift up the boy, and hold him fast with your hand, for I will make him into a great nation.”

I believe all those verses above are in reference to Islam - as I already stated, even Muslims believe Ishmael is the father of Islam.

I think that's what much of the fuss is all about. The Muslims say that Ishamel is the first born son - The Jews say, "ya, but he's the illegitimate son so he's not legally entitled to the birth right, IIRC.

Ah, you don't care for gut level rigorous honesty. I understand your type. It's OK. If you didn't have me to hate who would you focus on?

If I didn't BHO to hate, well there is always Hillary or Bernie or...gee, so many candidates and so little time.

I wouldn't put much faith in what's really a combination of four texts each written somewhere between 2500 and 12000 years ago. But blind faith is the problem and blind followers are the result.

I don't need faith to know that Islam is an Abrahamic religion - that it is a "great nation" - that Ishmael, the son of Abraham, is considered the father of Islam.

I hold it in faith that Ishmael - the father of Islam - would be a "wild donkey of a man" - that his hand will be against everyone and everyone's hand against him" - that "he will live in hostility toward all his brothers."

I take it on faith that that may perhaps have something to do with the fubar known as the middle east and it's affect on the rest of the world.

You need faith to believe that Abraham even existed.

What does that have to do with the question that you initially asked?

Why are you selectively quoting my reply to another poster and ignoring my response to you? Is it really that hard to apologize for the arrogance of your comment and admit that you were wrong?

Islam did not come into existence till long after the scriptures were written. If you want to believe that scriptures predicted it because of a bastard son you can believe that. But it does not make it so. That is my direct answer to your revelation.

Ya, well I'd say there's like a billion+ Muslims that base their faith on it and would disagree with you - I don't really care - I was just addressing the arrogance of your question.

Well, that went right over their heads.

You can tell that before anyone even commented on it? Evidently you're just as clairvoyant as the bible.

Of course, even if we accept Coreeces point those verses don't say anything at all about how to spot a secret Muslim, do they?

Oh, so they are right about that part of the mythology, but wrong about everything else?

Religion isn't a popularity contest. If your God is an all knowing and all powerful God, and he personally wrote his own textbook, that textbook has to be 100% right about everything, or it is garbage.

I'm having trouble figuring out if you're serious. I didn't know (and I grew up as a Christian and very involved in FCA and Younglife and going to their camps and to church and reading the bible thoroughly) that anyone really thought these earlier writings were anything other that conjectured stories. It's just a fact that it's impossible that a text that old and translated/transliterated so many times can hold up any factual value. And next to think that this person has somehow genetically predisposed an entire caste of people to certain attributes. This flies in the logic of every understanding of Science that even the Church holds to be true and has for many centuries.

This really isn't about being right or wrong. Gowlerk said that Islam isn't mentioned in the bible. I said neither is Christianity - but you can look at the text and get an idea for the basis of those religions.

Muslims claim that Islam is an Abrahamic faith through his son Ishmael. I was simply pointing to the part of scripture where they may have gotten it from. Beyond that, scripture doesn't really say much more about that side of the family.

You're free to believe or not believe whatever books you want, but you don't have to believe them in order to have a discussion on what's it's about. You may not believe in Neverwhere but you can still discuss it without constantly saying bah, that's impossible, I don't believe it, that's ridiculous - why would people worship rats?!

What a book club buzzkill. . .
