That;s not completely true. It's the American electorate that fills that role.

Kelly Ayotte, GOP candidate for the Senate, was asked if she would really point to Trump as a role model for today's youth. Clearly caught off guard, she fumbled for a bit and then said yes:

"Uh, I, oh, uh, I think that, uh, certainly, uh, there are many role models that we have, and, uh, I, I believe he’s can serve as president, and so absolutely. I would do that."

But even Ayotte realized how bad that looks. A few hours later she retracted her statement:

"I misspoke tonight."

She also explained while she supports Trump, she does not actually endorse him.

Trump may end up being the factor that gives the Senate to the Democrats.

I suspect the Minnesota GOP won't be using this mailed campaign flyer any more:

I don't see any problem. Everybody knows when the R's do it they are just demonstrating their business acumen. It's only bad when democrats do it. Just like cheating on your spouse, if you are the Republican candidate (or any of his advisers), "cheating" just proves you're "manly" and "successful". Of course it's despicable if a Democrat does it, and (as a Democrat) you're just as despicable/guilty if you let your spouse cheat on you.

And another one decides: For only the third time in the publication’s more than 150-year history, The Atlantic has endorsed a presidential candidate, calling Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton “among the most prepared candidates ever to seek the presidency.”

It was, IMO, just a lukewarm endorsement of Clinton but more a scathing repudiation of Trump.

This election cycle has less to recommend it than would one that featured Charlie Manson running against Bernie Madoff.

>WHERE WERE YOU DURING THE PRIMARIES YOU JACKASSES?!

They were all thinking "no way he can win the nomination. Huge swaths of our party would have to be racist, misogynistic assholes for him to have any chance. But Jeb Bush will have no problem against Clinton."

Well, not all papers are panning him.

North Korean State Media Calls Trump A ‘Far-Sighted’ And ‘Wise Politician’

Adrienne Mahsa Varkiani
Associate Editor @ThinkProgress

In perhaps the most interesting praise of Donald Trump yet, North Korean state media has described the likely Republican presidential nominee as a “far-sighted” and “wise politician.”

According to NK News, on Tuesday, an editorial in the state outlet DPRK Today noted that “there are many positive aspects to the Trump’s ‘inflammatory policies,’” like his proposal to stay out of the conflict between North and South Korea.

“Trump said ‘he will not get involved in the war between the South and the North,’ isn’t this fortunate from North Koreans’ perspective?” wrote Han Yong Mook, a self-described Chinese North Korean scholar.

The piece referred to Trump’s comments in March to withdraw U.S. troops from South Korea if the country does not increase its spending to help alleviate the cost of housing those troops.

“Who knew that the slogan ‘Yankee Go Home’ would come true like this?” Han wrote, according to NK News. “The day when the ‘Yankee Go Home’ slogan becomes real would be the day of Korean Unification.”

The piece also urged Americans not to vote for “dull” Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, criticizing her for “adapting the Iranian model to resolve nuclear issues on the Korean Peninsula,” in contrast to Trump, “who spoke of holding direct conversation with North Korea.”

. . . .

Despite Trump’s proposal that South Korea develop nuclear weapons to deter North Korea on its own, he has also said the North Korean leader deserves credit for what he has accomplished.

She is indeed. Also full of youthful idealism. I hope she does not become as cynical and jaded as her father some day.

Tax plans are very, very different
It's pretty scary to see what his plan could cost the country.
