RonD1120 58 #952 May 1, 2016 The basis of the counseling profession rests on the principle that we live the life we choose. If you are experiencing problems with your health, your close personal relationships, your employment or in society you have to take responsibility for yourself and make other choices. If you choose to do nothing and blame others then you are stuck in your problem.Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. RonD1120 58 #956 May 1, 2016 I believe God wants us to choose to know Him and His love. To that end He sent His Son to show us and to open the gate to the bridge to cross over. That is only one aspect of our free will choice. He knows now, has known from the beginning, and knows in the future who will choose Him and who will not. I believe we are in the period of the great apostasy, the falling away. This issue is separate although conceptually part of the counseling profession. Rest assured not all counselors are Christian. Some are Jewish, Hindu, Buddhists and Atheists to name a few.Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. RonD1120 58 #957 May 1, 2016 In all the substance abuse/addiction treatment programs where I worked, the object was to separate the abuser/addict from his environment and into a period of sobriety. During that time we acquainted him with the AA/NA programs so that they would have the ongoing follow up of a support group post treatment. To that end we had them work an extensive First Step. I always maintained that we needed to have substance use disorder classified as a disease in order to receive third party payments. Court ordered treatment, the type I worked, required paid professionals to document the treatment. Thus satisfying the court requirement. Without documented successful completion of a program the only other alternative is incarceration. And, incarceration does little to nothing for rehabilitating the abuser/addict. The last program I worked incorporated Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as part of the treatment regimen. The main difference, I see, in substance abuse/addiction to other diseases is the psychological desire to pursue euphoria over all other personal, family or social requirements.Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. jcd11235 0 #959 May 1, 2016 RonD1120He knows now, has known from the beginning, and knows in the future who will choose Him and who will not. You can't have it both ways. If your god knows what the future holds for people, then those people's futures are set in stone, and they have no free will. If they have free will, then their futures cannot be known, not even by your god.Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! First lesson: Factorials!
