I would have thought you were a birther.

Only in regards to BHO.

Which means it really has nothing to do with whether or not the individual is a "natural born citizen," but rather something else.

Good job.

Define "natural born citizen."

Dude, you haven't been keeping up with the news. The term is not defined constitutionally.

For the record, Cruz's birth certificate has never been in question. BHO had to manufacture a replica following public pressure.

No shit? Really? After 8ish years talking about the subject off and on here there was no way I could have known that. Thanks for the civics lesson, Professor.

IMHO, after listening to much commentary, Cruz doesn't qualify as a natural born citizen. If he is still a contender half way through primary season, I expect there to be a legal challenge, so we will all find out. Probably coming from the governor of some state that doesn't want to let him on the ballot. He'd better get (and pass) that challenge before the Presidential election gets going, just as Clinton needs to get past any true legal issues (not just sleaze) before then, if she becomes the nominee.

Ted Cruz was born in Canada. His mother is an American citizen, which means he was also an American citizen at birth. Even though he was not born in America. He is a natural born American, according most theories of the legal definition. Although this has never been tested before the Supreme Court.

Obama, even if you do not believe he was born in the USA, also clearly was born to an American mother. A good old gal from Kansas. How can you possible think Ted Cruz is eligible to be president, but not BHO? Really, do you think his mother lied about being his mother?

If Cruz goes very far this will be the defining moment.

It does seem as though he will think anything that can or could discredit Pres. Obama.

The requirements go beyond that. Something to do with her age at the time of birth (under 18 IIRC), and not having been continuously in the US for 5(?) years previously (required because she was a minor?). That info is likely a bit off, but close enough that you can find the info with a search.

Maybe, but John McCain was not born in the US either. No court ruled on that. Federal courts may just choose not to hear the case if it comes up. But I guess that would be a ruling as well.

So I did. She was 18 when her son Barack was born Aug. 4 1961. In Hawaii, where her parents moved her to in 1960, shortly after she had graduated High School in Seattle. Where she lived from the age of 13.

Amazing how the best country in the world, with the best governing system in the world, with the best people in the world has these options for president.

Isn't it interesting how Ron is silent on any of these posts. I think Quade hot the nail right on the head. The objection had nothing to do with the birth certificate.

I think it is obvious that the elder Obama took his teenage bride to Kenya when she was ready to deliver so that both of his wives could share the experience.

If those racist bastards at Harvard hadn't kicked him out for bigamy, he would have brought his Kenyan wife over to have children in Hawaii.

I'm sure that Obama's mom insisted in flying halfway around the world while heavily pregnant, since the health care system in Kenya was so much better than that in the U.S. at the time.

Also, since negroes cannot be racist, I'm sure the whole Obama clan was pleased as punch to bring a corn fed cutie into the fold. Not at all like 'Guess Who's Coming to Dinner,' I'm sure.

There has already been a lawsuit filed, in Texas. A non-generally-political guy filed it, simply to get the issue settled early enough for it to actually enter into the electoral process. Personally, I think he's done us a favor.

The thoughts in 2000 when McCain was running, was that since he was born in the Canal Zone, which was considered US territory, it probably wasn't a constitutional issue.

Can I vote this reply as the best sarcasm of the year. Love it.

America actually has at least one great option. Hilary Clinton is very well qualified, extremely capable, and is going to be a fine president. All is not lost.

Even better, I vote this one for best sarcasm of the year!

I think he's actually serious.:o

I am serious.

Sorry, apparently I spoke too soon when I referred to you in the other thread as a reasonable and thoughtful individual.

I was silent on the issue until normiss introduced it. I entered the thread with my opinion on Trump's popularity.

BHO is a closed issued. George Soros made him and used him to hose America. Nothing can be done about that now. We have to hope we can reverse his influence on the next go round.

I don't necessarily think Trump is the answer because Cruz is more reasonable and politically knowledgeable. However, I like the way that Trump rattles the progressive liberals including the media.

I agree, making statements that force your closest ally to debate in parliament whether he should be allowed into their country is amazing statesmanship. Prime presidential material for the greatest country in the world with the best governing system in the world.

We really don't need a world leader spouting off that a woman he disagrees with is a "bimbo".
He's an embarrassment now, I cannot imagine a world with him as president.

The repeated insults that the current president is ruining the country is simple fabrication, the facts clearly do not support that view. Whether you like him or not, he's done a pretty good job for the most part.

In many parts of the rest of the world he is seen as a typical American. His large support by those who describe themselves as real Americans doesn't help with that.

Your country isn't doing itself any favours on the international stage. I know the general attitude to that is "fuck em", however we live in a truly global environment.

Yes, I'm willing to do my share as well. I haven't done the math, but a few minutes, maybe seconds of effort should be enough. I rarely get to DC though. Can I do my part from Eloy or DeLand?
