turtlespeed 212 #76 October 26, 2015 normissNot quite, I'm saying that's what you're doing when you try to compare a common item with a deadly weapon. They're pretty incomparable. Ok, so, if a pillow is used to commit murder, is it classified as pillow violence?I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
Hooknswoop 19 #77 October 26, 2015 QuoteAll the above are losses of rights. I can see the argument, but they are not constitutionally protected rights. There is a difference. I'm still considering your suggestion, carry an unloaded pistol and use the barrel to deflect incoming rounds. I would probably need training to make that work. Going to be a steep learning curve, I hope. Derek V

normiss 622 #80 October 27, 2015 Excellent comparison. We should start a petition (because that's how stuff gets done these days) to require all road rage incidents be resolved with pillows and only with pillows. Genius.
wmw999 2,120 #81 October 27, 2015 Well, there's a competency test for driving any car on public roads. And the Car Talk guys used to say that, in fact, it would be smart to have an additional requirement, either age/maturity, or another test, to drive a car with a large amount of horsepower for its weight. kallend 1,623 #82 October 27, 2015 dpreguyCompetency test for anyone buying a 500+ horsepower car? You have to get a competency test to be pilot in command of an airplane with more than 200HP. You have to get a competency test to be pilot in command of an airplane with retractable landing gear. You have to get a competency test to be pilot in command of an airplane with a constant speed prop.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. rushmc 18 #84 October 27, 2015 Interesting changes coming? Quote Austrians are arming themselves at record rates in an effort to defend their households against feared attacks from Muslim invaders. Tens of thousands of Muslim “refugees” have poured into Austria from Hungary and Slovenia in recent months on their way to Germany and Sweden, two wealthy European countries that have laid out the welcome mat for migrants. More than a million will end up in Germany alone by the end of this year, according to estimates from the German government. Obtaining a working firearm and ammunition in Germany, Britain, Denmark and the Netherlands is practically impossible for the average citizen. Germany, for instance, requires a psychological evaluation, the purchase of liability insurance and verifiable compliance with strict firearms storage and safety rules. And self-defense is not even a valid reason to purchase a gun in these countries. Like the reporting you see here? Sign up for free news alerts from WND.com, America’s independent news network. The laws in Austria, while still strict, are a bit less overbearing. A Czech TV report confirms that long guns – shotguns and rifles – have been flying off the shelves in Austria, and Austrians who haven’t already purchased a gun may not have a chance to get one for some time. They’re all sold out. And those arming themselves are primarily women. “If anyone wants to buy a long gun in Austria right now, too bad for them,” the Czech newscaster says. “All of them are currently sold out.” He cites the Austrian news outlet Trioler Tageszeitung as the source of his report. http://www.wnd.com/2015/10/islamic-invasion-pulls-trigger-europeans-scramble-for-guns/"America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." wolfriverjoe 1,340 #86 October 27, 2015 Naaahh. We won't see jack. WMD is a standard "Make up stories to generate ad revenue" click bait site. About as accurate as the rest of that ilk (Info Wars, Blaze, Western Journalism, Common Dreams, Alternet, and on and on). Edit to add: Google the source quoted, " Trioler Tageszeitung". It's misspelled. It should be "Tiroler", not Trioler. Accidental misspelling? Or just make up a source that is really close to a real media outlet."There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit." Kadde 0 #87 October 28, 2015 turtlespeed Why do people keep embellishing the accidental deaths as gun violence? If a guy accidentally drives off a bridge, is it span violence? Car violence? Road violence? If you want to make an analysis on the dangers of X, lets say cars, it would be pretty useless without taking accidents into account. They are still a result of X. Accidents are part of the overall risk of gun ownership. But are they properly classified as "gun violence"? The Bloomberg founded/funded group, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, did a "Road tour" recently (last year or so). As part of their ceremonies, they read off a list of names of "victims of gun violence." The crowd that was listening was not exactly happy when they heard the names "Tamerlan Tsarnaev" and "Christain Dorner" read out as "victims.""There are NO situations which do not call for a French Maid outfit."
