WTF is wrong with American police?

Recommended Posts

Yet with all the repeated attemprs, including some legal efforts, there's no substance to that belief it would seem.
I don't trust politicians either, but.....if there's no foundation to what people think (mostly out of hate, dislike, distrust, and bigotry), and Anda serious lack of evidentiary facts, well it's just bullshit.
In the Macdonald murder, there are witness, video, and what is starting to appear as political coverup, there might be a shit ton of distasteful truth.
Significantly more factual evidence at the least anyway.

Well, that is a good start, but I can't believe the mayor only learned what happened when the video became public.

Well, the Fraternal Order of the Police in Chicago has spoken.

Apparently, protesters are "spoiled children."

And there is going to be a hearing in Federal Court next week. The family of another young black male shot to death by the cops wants the video released. Somehow, they think that the story told by the cops won't match up to what the video shows.

One very interesting part is the IRPA investigator who saw the video and felt that the shooting wasn't justified was fired. And is suing the department over it.

Chicago Mayor said they would release the video...next week.
Does he mean Friday after the court orders him to?
How is he still in City Hall after all this?
Oh yeah, Chicago politics it seems.

Chicago is good, mmmmmkay.

Morality is its strongest foundation.

Altruistic Chicago, what more can you want?

That list looks terrible. This is in regards to corrupt/abusive police departments; you're psychologically "framing" the numbers.

No, it doesn't look pretty good.

Only on your world is+- 0.194% bad.

It is also if it happens to be the temperature increase across the entire globe.

But nothing even remotely close to that is an acceptable tax increase on the upper one percent. Then it is bad because it is so low.

So, 0.194% is not bad, huh? How about if 0.194% of the Syrian refugees we let resettle in the US are ISIS terrorists? That's 19 terrorists for every 10,000 people we let in. Is that an accceptable number?

If not, why is it okay to have that number of corrupt police departments?

There are some statistics that are properly converted to a per capita basis, and there are some that need to remain absolute numbers.

Well you will never have zero thats just an unobtainable dream. No one here is calling 1 or more ok, but 35 of about 18,000 is not the end of the world like this never ending thread reads.

That's 35 that are bad enough to attract the attention and resources of the Justice Department. It's merely an indication of a problem. It does not indicate the scope of the problem.

Bullshit. This administration had been sicking them left and right. Look at the Furgeson shooting. There was a shot inside the car over a fight for the officers weapon, a cop with injuries to the face, a clear case and they got investigated.

Not at all saying the 35 on the list are angels, but to measure the level of our troubles against the willingness to investigate to appease the liberal anti-cop masses is a joke.

And then there is Chicago, which should have been on the list multiple times, but until very recently wasn't.

How many more of those around?

Your anger at the desire to hold police accountable for their actions is a joke. Liberals like me are not anti cop. , nor are the masses. We are anti police abusing their powers.

We all understand that the thin blue line is needed to stand between civilization and anarchy. And we all bleed and feel pain when one of them pays the price in performing their duty.

But there can be no denying that a small subset of officers are attracted to the job for the wrong reasons. There can also be no denying that minorities in general, and black people in particular have been the targets of discriminatory policing by some.

Liberals, and even some conservatives want to use the modern tools available to prevent inappropriate police behavior and to remove police who are not professional in their actions.

In the Ferguson case it is pretty clear to objective people that Darren Wilson was not guilty of wrong doing other than the way he started the interaction with Micheal Brown. In my mind Brown was the author of his own misfortune. But it is just as true that the subsequent investigation revealed a systemically racist civic government with a police department to match.

I also find the slogan "black lives matter" to be an unfortunate choice. There is simply a word missing from it. It's there in the subtext, but people are refusing to acknowledge that fact. The real meaning of the slogan is "black lives matter too". If you read it that way, which is the idea it is intended to put across, you will find little to offend you.

We need police to keep the streets safe. We need oversight of the police to keep them professional. All anyone is asking is for the police to be professionals.
