On God and Santa Claus

I have only one firm belief about the American political system, and that is this: God is a Republican and Santa Claus is a Democrat.

God is an elderly or, at any rate, middle-aged mate, a stern fellow, patriarchal rather than paternal and a great believer in rules and regulations. He holds men strictly accountable for their actions. He has little apparent concern for the material well-being of the disadvantaged. He is politically connected, socially powerful and holds the mortgage on literally everything in the world. God is difficult. God is unsentimental. It is very hard to get into God's heavenly country club.

Santa Claus is another matter. He's cute. He's nonthreatening. He's always cheerful. And he loves animals. He may know who's been naughty and who's been nice, but he never does anything about it. He gives everyone everything they want without thought of a quid pro quo. He works hard for charities, and he's famously generous to the poor. Santa Claus is preferable to God in every way but one: There is no such thing as Santa Claus.

Besides, God is just there to make us all feel better and not give in to primal urges.

With regard to Socialists vs Democrats, a more apt analogy would be Santa vs Easter Bunny.

We all know that right of center folks are gay loathing, racist, misogynistic, zenophobes who hate the poor, but what is the differancs between a Socialist and a Democrat?

The Bible is still the number one book and is considered, according to History Channel, the number one symbol and influence the world.

Look for the shiny things of God revealed by the Holy Spirit. They only last for an instant but it is a Holy Instant. Let your soul absorb them.

OTOH, I see evidence of Santa Claus every day.

The "differancs" are really pretty simple:

Democrats want to spend government money on the poor.
Republicans want to spend government money on government contractors.
Socialists want to spend government money.

Democrats want to take money from the rich, because they don't deserve it.
Republicans want to take money from the poor, so they have "skin in the game."
Socialists want to take money from people.

Democrats want the government to control guns.
Republicans want the government to control women's bodies.
Socialists want more government control.

Democrats want people to worship whoever they want.
Republicans want people to worship Jesus.
Socialists want people to worship the government.

Are you going to blame your lack of knowledge on this subject or other subjects on your teachers as rush does so frequently.

I do believe this was all covered in civics classes.
Then again academics was more important to me than who our teams were playing on any given week during the school year.

Let me help you out.
Hillory has been for:
Iraq war, bank bailout, patriot act, patriot act reauthorization, border fence, and bankruptcy reform (screwing the poor). She has also failed to take a position on the Keystone pipeline. When it comes to rhetoric she is a progressive, when it comes to action she is a George W Bush clone. But I guess if the NYTs tells you that her vagina trumps her voting record .........you have to do what you have to do.

I think that one of the reasons she will win in the end is that the majority of women will vote for her. Not because she's a woman, but because they will be horrified by the misogyny the GOP shows towards her. Many women have experienced sexism and bigotry in their lives, and seeing the GOP reducing the former US Secretary of State to a "vagina" will not sit well with them.

You can only register for one set of primaries, and it has always seemed that the Republican garden was in desperate need of weeding.

Any party that was truly in line with my way of thinking couldn't get a dog catcher elected, so what the hell. If the Curmudgeon Party should field a candidate, I'm in.
