Socialist or Democrat

Both democrats and republicans are fervent socialists. The only differences between them have to do with who they want to tax, and who gets the money.

Yep.

Pretty much any form of government is going to be by definition "socialist" to some extent. Even the most fervent free market anarchist tends to want something that is "socialist" in nature; roads for instance so he can ship his good to that free market.

I did not intend to insult with the OP. If I was trying to be a jerk I would have not capitalized the D. That said, what is the difference between Hillory, a Democrat and Bernie a Socialist?

That wouldn't demonstrate the difference between the Democratic Party and socialism (which is a really dumb question by the way - it simply doesn't make sense) it would only demonstrate the difference between Hillory [sic] and Bernie.
Do you want to have an ideagasm?

It's the latest version of a "gotcha" question floating around the Republican talking heads. It's asinine.

One might as well ask what's the difference between a Republican and a Socialist? The honest answer is one they can't answer in public. Try to say anything and it's easily shot down.

Not to be a douche about it, but Democrats refer to their party as the DemocratIC party, and the adjective form of Democrat is, also, DemocratIC. Always been that way. The ephithet "Democrat party" is a Republican asshole-ism.

I heard the term Democrat Party for the first time last night. I guess I just don't frequent the right circles.

Yep- it all depends on who they want to shake down.

Or subsidize, or take bribes from, or, you know, whatever.

Republicans = Guns
Democrats = Butter

A society needs both really. The quibble is over how much of one vs another.

I understand the Republican guns vs the Democrats butter.... What I am trying to get my head around is the Democrats butter vs the Socialists butter.

FWIW, I am a no guns and no butter kind of guy. Both are bad for our health.

Just to clarify, when I say no guns, I am referring to the military industrial complex, not private ownership.

Or the republican's guns vs the socialist's guns. Same basic idea.

>FWIW, I am a no guns and no butter kind of guy.

Well, then you're stuck being libertarian; neither party is going to want to give up their government cheese. (to keep the food analogy going)

I wonder how many of these guys who claim to be libertarian... have ever actually voted for one... since so many of their positions in SC are right out of the GOP talking points.... not the libertarians...
