ISIL, Sunni, Shia, Iran, Assad, Turkey, PKK...

Recommended Posts

So The USA is a NATO ally of Turkey. Turkey is launching air strikes against the PKK (Kurds). The Kurds are fighting ISIL. Turkey is now fighting ISIL. ISIL is fighting the Shia. Iran is Shia. We hate Iran. We are striking ISIL. We hate al-Assad. ISIL is fighting al-Assad. PKK is fighting al-Assad.

And then there's Iraq, which is a clusterfuck.

It's all very simple.

Turn them all into a giant parking lot. Problem solved. :P

If only it were that simple. :|

No, it is much simpler:
Stop sending out troops and money halfway around the globe under the pretense it is "defending our country".

I've been around long enough to remember the US militarists and their redneck, Nixon-voting toadies saying the same thing about Southeast Asia. There's a lesson in that. Couple of 'em, actually, if you squint.

At least in SEA we had some idea of who was on our side whose side we were on.

However Southeast Asia did not have an Israel equivalent, which greatly complicates everything.

Agreed. Shouldn't have been out there to begin with.

They might have appeared to be one side during the day... at night.. the black jammies were brought out for fun and games with those who did support us... the elders... teachers etc. would be found in the morning not having survived the fun and games in the middle of the night.

It was very effective at getting rid of those people whose side we were on and a stark lesson to the rest of the hamlet or village of who not to get help from.

Definitely. We send our troops to fight against other troops we have trained and equipped. Seems like a waste of money, time and lives.

Not really... those who profit from WAR do quite well in getting the money out of our pockets/purses... and you can bet they have not.. nor will their children participate.

Waste of money and time? It is quite a brilliant business plan. Lots of rich people because of it.

The dead people are mostly from the lower classes, so most would designate that an acceptable cost of doing business.

Cannon fodder is useless without the odd war.

It's the neocon dream coming true. Except that it's turned into more of a nightmare than the original dream. But at least Ron is happy. He sees it as the beginning of the end.
