Christianity certainly discriminates against sin - no question about that. Homosexuality is just as much a sin as me jerking off to Jessica Rabbit during my pubescence...and then some.

I suppose my biggest problem is turning that sin into a lifestyle that is acceptable to Christianity. If you want to create your own religion that accepts same sex anal, then you are free to do so, but I think you'll have a difficult time including the bible into your threesome.

Some homosexuals have said that the gay rainbow in Dublin during the same sex vote was a sign of Jesus's acceptance of homosexuals.......well, as a true believer, all I have to say is that there were many signs that I also thought were from God, but I was sorely disappointed....

My fiance was just diagnosed with an anaplastic astrocytoma....she recently saw a rainbow through her hospital window as a sign of hope.

Being a lay person regarding statutes, I do not understand this ruling. Some states allowed same sex marriage, some did not. What prompted the SCOTUS to weigh in and overturn the states right to regulate their marriage laws?

I am more concerned about that abuse, IMO, of power than I am in same sex marriage.

So, I too had the same question. And, I began to wonder about those States that are not issuing gay marriage certificates. Turns out that SCOTUS can have its ruling challenged by congress... Mark, please understand my intrigue is not with the social aspects of which I care not. I side with Amazon's succinct statement of, "If you don't want to have a gay marriage; don't have one."

I was curious from the beginning about; 1) the legal aspects of bypassing congress, 2) going straight to SCOTUS, 3) its affect on the 10th amendment and, 4) if their ruling could be abrogated.

This battle was largely over at least a couple years ago. The court merely stepped in to clean up a mish mash of laws and confusion all over America. The religious arguments for and against are irrelevant. What has happened is that gay people in all states long ago lost their fear of being known. The rest of society had been brainwashed into believing that gays were some sort of oversexed monsters and not really fully human. But when they started to come out we found that they were really just our brothers and sisters. Now we have decided to meet their demands to be treated as equals, which is only right. Some dead enders will resist for awhile, but a year from now when it's no longer news it will just be a big yawn.

Besides, why should the pain of broken marriages and divorce be reserved for only straights?

The problem with assertions about the primacy of religious freedoms is that those who make them are only concerned with their own religious beliefs. My personal religion allows for gay marriage. What about my rights? This is why religion is completely irrelevant to law.
