More on Hunter:

But even if he claims that, he's still got problems. On March 4, 2016, he spent $462.46 in campaign funds for 30 shots of tequila and a steak in Washington, DC. Even if his wife is part of the deep state conspiracy, she was in California at the time, and he was in DC.

Still, I bet he doesn't lose much support. The GOP's culture of corruption makes all of this acceptable.

I'm embarrassed to say he's a former Marine officer. Why is this pertinent? Because:
-- I often give career civil servants (civilian type) a bit more leeway when it comes to small steps over the line of inappropriate behavior (grey area, intent, etc). They haven't had the YEARS of annual training I've had on a lot of these issues (some will recall my defense of Sec. Clinton using personal email for official business).
-- Service members, especially officers, and (for my experience base) especially Marine Corps officers doget that annual training. In this case, particularly as it pertains to "not your money."
-- Add to that, and he has certainly been helped by his veteran status, most notably as it bumps his credibility from the start as a more honest, upstanding citizen.

It was bad enough when he wanted to spout from his soapbox about crap he didn't really understand about "how it is" in the rest of the military (he didn't spend a lot of time with enlisted logistics personnel, for example) when it comes to equal opportunity, gender issues, marriage equality and the like; and I had to be associated with him by virtue of service. Now he's falling further than most would with his misuse of the funds and not taking responsibility for it, especially as he was so much higher than the average representative due to his military resume.

So, I apologize that though he's a jackass, I still must tell the truth and admit he's a former Marine. Sorry, everyone. He certainly does not represent us all. [:/]

If I took anything away from military service it was this:

Some people are honorable, and some honorable people serve in the military, but military service does not imply an honorable person.

You are absolutely correct! Like I stated though, I'm much more likely to allow for some forays into the grey area for career civilians, because they haven't had the annual training and repetition of the rules (not to mention "fishbowl" culture of having everything scrutinized) as military (esp leadership). So this guy has NO excuse!

Latest scumbag (not sure if more a scumbag or deplorable) -

Ron Desantis, GOP candidate for governor of Florida, is facing a black opponent - Andrew Gillum. He has words of warning for voters - "the last thing we need to do is to monkey this up" by voting for Gillum.

He is now, of course, denying that it had anything to do with race, and republicans across the FOXiverse are outraged by the 'race baiting' they claim is happening. This effort has not been helped, however, by Republican Communications Strategist Liz Mair, who tweeted: "I think if Ron De Santis really wanted to go with an obviously racist hit straight after the primary, he should have said on live TV 'I don't think Floridians want to elect a dude who looks like Obama and is aping Bernie Sanders.' "

Yep, nothing says "we're not racist" by describing what a better racist slur would be.

More on Hunter:

Trump, of course, is taking his side, and attacking Sessions because the indictments were not delayed to ensure "easy wins" for republicans. Because that's the job of the Justice Department in Trump's eyes - ensuring "easy wins" for him.

Trump: "Two long running, Obama era, investigations of two very popular Republican Congressmen were brought to a well publicized charge, just ahead of the Mid-Terms, by the Jeff Sessions Justice Department. Two easy wins now in doubt because there is not enough time. Good job Jeff."

Fox News and other conservatives had a fucking conniption over the fact that Bill Clinton and Loretta Lynch had a conversation during the campaign. 18 months later they were still harping on about the 'scandalous' meeting and what might have been said.

Now you've got Trump in the open telling his AG he should interfere with ongoing criminal investigations in order to protect party political interests.

I wonder if either Rush or Ron will grow a backbone and comment honestly on this one.

Don't bet on it.

They, like their hero, have a very obvious and blatant double standard.

When the 'other guy' does anything remotely resembling impropriety, it's "LOCK HER UP!!!"

When their guy does it, it's "Fake News", or "you don't understand why he did it" or it just gets ignored.

It almost seems like it receives the same amount of thought as rooting for the home teams does. No one looks at issues or the talent level of the team, they look at what they have always done in the past. Why change? You have to be loyal and stick with your team through thick and thin.

It should be stressed that his own lawyer is the one making these claims, and is trying to use them to defend Hunter.

“While there may be evidence of infidelity, irresponsibility or alcohol dependence, once properly understood, the underlying facts do not equate to criminal activity." - defense attorney Gregory Vega

BTW these claims are the same ones that Hunter said were "tabloid trash."

Doesn't that just make him even more Trumpy? The mango Mussolini will just have to pardon him now! Does someone have to be actually convicted before being pardoned?

Nixon says no.

Scholars aren't sure if it would stand up to legal challenge.

Today's scumbag is Bill Schuette.

He did an attack ad against his opponent, Gretchen Whitmer. Of course that meant he needed to find pictures of her looking angry and, well, not great, to put in the ad.

Fortunately he found some - taken during her testimony after she was raped.

Bravo, Schuette, for taking someone's rape survival and using it against them.

Several years ago I had a client that was a boutique financial trading firm. We had a disagreement about some things and I went very far out of my way to make them happy even though the whole mess was their doing. In the end they refused to pay me. I tried to reason with them, but they still refused. Somehow their DNS record got changed and any client that went to their web site found themselves redirected to a hardcore gay porn site. It was amazing how quickly payment was delivered by messenger to my office. The moral of the story, don't mess with the IT guys.

Damn. His own family endorses the other guy because they think he's an overt racist... and he'll still almost certainly be re-elected:D
