gowlerk 2,076 #1751 July 26 Not that it matters one way or another, but there is strong reason to believe that yes, he was grazed by the first shot fired. It also seems that he just happened to turn his head as the shot was fired, or it likely would have killed him. Some will believe this was an act of God, some will call it good luck, and of course some will call it bad luck. If he had been killed someone more right wing and capable would have been nominated and probably would be a stronger candidate. Because of that I'm calling it good luck. Harris can beat him, but only because so many people are never Trumpers. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/26/us/politics/trump-shooter-bullet-trajectory-ear.html

riggerrob 598 #1756 August 10 General question: Why do people vote for bullies? My theory is that they hope that if they stay close enough to bullies, that all of the out-going hatred and viltriole will miss them as it goes over their heads. Early in life, I learned that the best way to handle bullies is to distance myself from them. As a child, I was always picked on by gangs of bullies. Two of those gang leaders were the son and daughter of the local Pentecostal Minister. I have never set foot in a Pentecostal Church in this lifetime. As to why some people are bullies .. my I suggest that they have given up on ever improving themselves beyond their current status, so resort to putting down others who might appear brighter or stronger or faster or ... My challenge to bullies is to re-devoted their energies to improving themselves. We will all be better off if bullies try to improve themselves. On a Canadian level, the more Pierre Polievre drags up dirty politics on the Liberals, the less likely I am to vote for him and his Conservatives. Just to be clear, as soon as any politicians stoops to muck-raking, he loses my vote. IOW If a politicians cannot act like an adult, I do not want him/her leading my country. After all according to the Supreme Court the company have to literally say ‘I am corruptly giving you this money so you will do this thing for me’ and the politician has to say ‘yes I will now corruptly do this thing I otherwise would not have done in exchange for this money’ or it’s not actually a bribe. Jimmy Kimmel started a bit called "Will Santos Say It", where his show paid the $400 for Santos to record some really stupid and silly stuff. Santos sued Kimmel. kallend 1,819 #1766 August 30 WINDERMERE, Fla. — An Orange County grand jury indicted State Rep. Carolina Amesty on forgery charges Wednesday, the Office of the State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit said. Amesty -- a Republican who represents District 45 -- was indicted on the following charges: forgery, uttering a forgery, false acknowledgement or certification by a notary public and notarizing your own signature. The charges are connected to evidence “showing she knowingly notarized a document with a forged signature in 2021 while serving as an administrator at Central Christian Academy, a nonprofit school run by her family,” the State Attorney’s Office said.
