Hi folks,

The worst of the worst:  Blessinger is accused of allowing or compelling the child to engage in sexually explicit conduct for someone to watch or record between Jan. 1, 2017, and Jan. 10, 2021, and intending to distribute the recording, court records allege.

Ex-board member of Our Children Oregon accused of child sexual abuse - oregonlive.com

IMO if found guilty, no penalty is too much.

Another ignorant jerk:

Guardian, 5/14/2023

Mexicans “would be eating cat food out of a can and living in a tent behind an Outback” Steakhouse restaurant if it were not for their nation’s proximity to the US, and their country should be invaded because of the presence of drug cartels there, the US senator John Neely Kennedy said.

The Louisiana Republican’s racist remarks drew a strong condemnation from Mexico’s foreign affairs secretary, Marcelo Ebrard, who called Kennedy “a profoundly ignorant man”. Mexico’s president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, meanwhile, urged the 37 million Americans of Mexican descent – along with other Latinos in the US – “not to vote for people with this very arrogant, very offensive and very foolish mentality” in the future.

Kennedy’s rant came on Wednesday during a Senate appropriations subcommittee hearing that in part focused on the Drug Enforcement Administration’s budget. Kennedy told DEA administrator Anne Milgram that she and other members of the Biden White House should pressure López Obrador to let US military and law enforcement officials storm into his country “and stop the cartels”.

This Tuberville, (tatertown, right) is beyond the pale. How can anyone identify as a Republican when the party is riddled with these sorts of bigots?

Apparently the GOP decided some time ago that the bigot/poorly educated voting bloc was big enough to be worth pandering to.

Ummmm...

Because they're the same sort of bigot?

I've said it before.

I honestly thought the racial hatred & bigotry was more or less done.

Not racism, not abuse of power, not injustice.
But most of the virulent, violent hatred.
And not completely done, but mostly over.

And then Obama got elected.

And so many people who had been required to pretend to be nice just completely lost their shit.

All the 'Birther' garbage. All the "Secret Muslim" crap. All the stupid insults and criticisms of both of the Obamas.

The people who had hated people with different color skin, but had been forced by 'polite society' to mute those views came out from under their rocks and went apeshit.
Turns out they've always been there, but weren't able to be 'their real selves' in public.

Then Trump saw his opportunity. Remember his private detective who was going to provide earthshaking revelations 'in two weeks'?

Trump gained traction with his hate and vitriol, got the bigots and assholes wound up and the MAGA moron movement took off.

Trump and his idiot followers then proceeded to hijack the R party. Which resulted in Bobo, Gym Jordan and Empty Gee gaining power.

People like Liz Cheney decided they weren't very nice people and jumped ship, to their detriment.
Keep in mind that Liz is Darth Cheney's daughter. And Trump is too evil for her.

But not for the MAGA morons, and the politicians that pander to them.

Well I say the same things from time to time. Mostly out of frustration. BIGUN isn't a bigot. There are other republicans as well that swallow their pride and vote republican. Some will go out that same week to do outreach volunteer work. Some today are helping immigrant claimants at the border. More than many democrats.

Racist, bigots, etc. I'd go with 20% of the GOP depending on how riled up I am about some latest outrage.

Not really. Some just cling to an old identity that maybe once made sense but, under close examination now, actually doesn't fit. What really is a Conservative, these days? Are they only Republicans and never Democrats? Surely not. It used to be being Conservative was about economic principles. Now its more about who has fun under the sheets with whom and on which day sometimes, too. That's why I object to folks identifying as Republican thinking they're identifying as economic conservatives when the unfortunate downstream effect is they're giving cover to bigots simply by standing under the same tent.  Myself, I'm a piss poor Liberal even though I so identify as a personal matter. I only identify as a Democrat as a counter to at least one voter who identifies as a Republican because, like it or not, those numbers matter.

Well, yeah.  And 150 years ago, republicans were the urban younger voters who opposed slavery and the rural "common sense" democrats thought it was really a good thing for blacks.  Things change, and parties change with the times to try to attract the most voters without alienating their base.

Can you not just trim florida off and float it out into the ocean? Seems like you'd get rid of a lot of the crazy.

You can't say that. CA earned that comment many years ago and continues to claim their ownership of it.

It’s worth remembering that only Florida is in a death struggle with Mickey Mouse. He lives on peacefully in Anaheim.

Nah - from an external perspective (and having spent plenty of time in both states) california is weird, and quite a lot neurotic. Florida is full on, card carrying, screaming at the moon crazy.

And on Monday Rudy Giuliani's assistant, Noelle Dunphy, filed sexual harassement and wage-theft charges against him.  The complaint listed these gems:

Giuliani would “point to his erect penis, and tell her that he could not do any work until ‘you take care of this.’”
Giuliani drank “morning, noon, and night, and was frequently intoxicated” and “unpredictable.”
Giuliani would go on “alcohol-drenched rants that included sexist, racist, and antisemitic remarks.”
Dunphy claims Giuliani demanded oral sex when he was on phone calls with Donald Trump because it made him “feel like Bill Clinton.”
When Dunphy worked remotely during the COVID-19 shutdown in 2020, Giuliani demanded that she appear naked during videoconference calls.
Giuliani didn’t pay Dunphy for her work, promising he'd pay her as soon as his divorce was finalized.

Dunphy says that not only does she have recordings of many of these, he gave her access to his email account - and she kept a record of his emails.

Sounds like the trial will be a slam dunk.  Biggest issue may be that it gets too gross for jurors to listen to.

Apart from all the horrendously pervy shit, the biggest bombshell is the allegation (backed up with commmunications) that Giuliani and Trump were conspiring to sell pardons for two million bucks. Really interesting bit was Giuliani telling Dunphy to send those enquiries directly to him instead of the Pardon Office in order to evade any FOIA requests regarding those dodgy pardons in future. If I remember correctly, Trump did indeed sign a bunch of pardons which were not vetted by the Pardon Office first.

The worst part is, I am not sure it is illegal.

"I've got this thing and it's fucking golden, and, uh, uh, I'm just not giving it up for fuckin' nothing."

The practice of Presidential pardons needs to be abolished. It is just a mechanism by which a crook can lure in his lackeys to help in his crimes, letting them get off scot free.
