Another scumbag politician.

Recommended Posts

And yet another fine politician - Tom Price, who has so far fleeced US taxpayers over $1 million for his private jet flights.

From Politico:
======================
The White House approved the use of military aircraft for multi-national trips by Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price to Africa and Europe this spring, and to Asia in the summer, at a cost of more than $500,000 to taxpayers.

The overseas trips bring the total cost to taxpayers of Price’s travels to more than $1 million since May, according to a POLITICO review.
======================

But not to worry! Price is an honorable guy and has pledged to repay all $52,000 of his debt to the American people.

(Some brainiac on the nerd patrol is going to point out that $52,000 is less than $1 million - but no one likes a brainiac.)

And another one. From Politico:

================
Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke and his aides have taken several flights on private or military aircraft, including a $12,000 charter plane to take him to events in his hometown in Montana and private flights between two Caribbean islands, according to documents and a department spokeswoman.

Zinke is at least the fourth senior member of the Trump administration to have used non-commercial planes at taxpayer expense, along with EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and HHS Secretary Tom Price. President Donald Trump has fumed at Price's pricey travel, and Democrats say the revelations demonstrate a cavalier attitude by Cabinet members toward excessive spending.

Aaaaand - Price is gone, in the revolving door that is the Trump administration.

Don't let the door... (WHACK!)... OK never mind.

Has there ever been such a dysfunctional administration?

Also how does the cost of this fiasco compare to keeping secret service security at all of Trump's alt-White Houses?

No. I don't think that even the Nixon's last days were this idiotic.

I would think that the cost of The Secret Service protecting Trump at all of his other places is well above this little "jet setting".

There was a report of $60k just in golf cart rentals by the S/S.

But, all that money is paid to the owner of the resorts and such.

Which, in a yuge surprise (and I mean really bigly surprising), all those places are owned by...

Trump himself.

"Murphy was a co-sponsor of legislation -- passed in the House on Tuesday night -- that would make it illegal for women to abort a baby after the 20-week mark. He has a perfect 100% score with National Right to Life, having voted with the organization on five key pieces of legislation, including the "No Taxpayer Funding for Abortions Act." As my former Washington Post colleague Aaron Blake expertly documents here, Murphy was also touting his anti-abortion stance even as he was reportedly urging his mistress to seek an abortion.
This is hypocrisy of the worst sort. Murphy does one thing in his public life as an elected official and something very, very different in his private life. It's literally a do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do situation.
"

Waiting for one of our GOP supporting friends to jump to Murphy's defense........:|

The GOP has a long history of opposing abortion in all cases, with very few exceptions. The exceptions include cases where pregnancy would threaten the life of the mother, and cases where the woman is the mistress of a GOP politician.

Yeah but to be fair, he was only saying that stuff because his staff wrote him speeches that said it. He doesn't really believe it!

Absolutely not! He's clearly just an innocent victim of his own employees:o

Alternatively, perhaps he really believes it, but his case is a very special one where his mistress really NEEDS an abortion, unlike all those welfare moms. People shouldn't judge him unless they really understand what he's going through.

New Bill Would Limit Abortion To Cases Where Procedure Necessary To Save Promising Political Career

WASHINGTON—Saying the measure would radically curtail access to the procedure except under the most urgent conditions, House Republicans on Wednesday introduced legislation that would sharply limit abortions to those necessary to save a promising political career. “This bill amends the federal criminal code to redesignate abortion as illegal except in extraordinarily rare cases where a politician’s future as an elected representative is in jeopardy,” read a joint statement from the House GOP, explaining that unless there was no other way to ensure that a young legislator could continue rising through the ranks in D.C., the bill would bar women unconditionally from terminating a pregnancy. “Abortion is a sin, but we recognize that there may be no other alternative when fulfilling lifelong political ambitions is at risk. That is why this bill is so important to pass into law.” At press time, the bill was amended to clarify that the political careers in question were men’s and that any pregnant female politicians would be required to bring pregnancies to full-term.

On a fall evening two years ago, donors gathered during a conference at a Ritz-Carlton hotel near Washington to raise funds for a 31-year-old candidate for the Ohio legislature who was a rising star in evangelical politics.

Hours later, upstairs in a hotel guest room, an 18-year-old college student who had come to the event with his parents said the candidate unzipped his pants and fondled him in the middle of the night. The frightened teenager fled the room and told his mother and stepfather, who demanded action from the head of the organization hosting the conference.

“If we endorse these types of individuals, then it would seem our whole weekend together was nothing more than a charade,” the stepfather wrote to Tony Perkins, president of the Council for National Policy.

“Trust me, this will not be ignored nor swept aside,” replied Perkins, who also heads the Family Research Council, a prominent evangelical activist group. “It will be dealt with swiftly, but with prudence.”

The incident, described in emails and documents obtained by The Washington Post, never became public, nor did unspecified prior “similar incidents” Perkins referred to in a letter to candidate Wesley Goodman.
...

Goodman, 33, abruptly resigned this week after state legislative leaders learned of what the House speaker called “inappropriate behavior related to his state office.” Local media outlets have reported the behavior involved a consensual sexual encounter with a male visitor in his legislative office.

In Ohio, supporters of Goodman’s campaign wondered why they were not alerted to his past behavior.
...

The Oct. 18, 2015 incident involving Goodman was discreetly handled by Perkins, the council’s president and a prominent leader on the religious right. Goodman at the time was campaigning for office after an impressive run in Washington as a congressional aide who rose to managing director of a conservative coalition Perkins oversees. He worked for the Perkins-run network from February 2013 to March 2015.

Perkins’s CNP raised money for Goodman at an Oct. 18 event that brought in donations from GOP stalwarts like former attorney general Edwin Meese and Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the antiabortion Susan B. Anthony List, according to Goodman’s campaign finance reports.
