And they just fired off the first salvo:

Lauren Boebert Was a Paid Escort and Had Two Abortions

Apparently fake. Disappointing how many people leapt at it though. But in fairness, most of the commentary I've seen hasn't been judgemental of her alleged SW or terminations, just the outrageous hypocrisy (if it had been true).

Got a link that it's fake?

Honest question.

I can find articles about her denials, but nothing that confirms or denies the truth of the allegations.

I have no idea of the accuracy of it.
But I have a feeling (just a feeling, no proof or anything) that the guys claiming it aren't going to make the claims without some backup to it.

I could be totally wrong on that.

I fairness I actually hadn't dug too much into the background, and was basing it on a tweet this morning I saw from a lawyer I follow, who definitely wouldn't count as a fan of LB's and definitely leans left:

I've looked more into it now, and I'd definitely be erring on the side of "the SW stuff is almost definitely fake, the abortions probably also". The screenshots of text messages they've put up as evidence are heavily redacted and read more like fan fiction than normal conversation, and at least one of the images being used is unlikely to be of her.

Not something I'd be sharing until there's more to back it up. Still well within the realms of possibility, but not worth falling into the oppositions tendency to eat something up just because it's so so juicy that I want it to be true... ;)

Fair enough. Thanks.

I have my doubts too. The escort thing could just be someone who looks a lot like her.
And I freely admit that this is one of those 'I want it to be true because I dislike her a LOT' sort of things.

If a sex worker can become first lady in the GOP, there is no reason a sex worker can't become a representative. I think we all know by now that hypocrisy is pretty rampant in the GOP. They very much want to dictate what other people can and can't do.

Boebert is reacting to this all wrong. She should be screaming from the rooftops that she's the icon of the american dream - A former escort (insert sob story) who's now a member of Congress.

The right would lap that up.

That could work.  And she could say that the guy who got her pregnant was one of those inner city men (wink wink) who ran off and would have left the child fatherless, like those people do, which is why they never escape the cycle of violence.  Their fault.

Or make it an illegal immigrant who left her in the lurch!  Even better.

Right? I'm WASTED in an organization who has 'Integrity' as one of it's core values. I keep telling them this.

If this isn’t backed up by actual facts, it’s no different from the “abortion clinic exposés” of a few years ago. Since I didn’t like those, I rather doubt I like this.

Dammit

Wendy P.

There is a large dose of misogyny in this smear campaign. I don’t like it either.

It's dirty and there's a LOT about it I don't like. That said, I've said for a while that the democrats need to start playing the republicans at their own game because at some point turning the other cheek simply leaves you battered and abused.

I'm hopeful that a short sharp shock of highlighting the hypocrisy of politicians will blunt that behavior, and the need for these distasteful tactics in the future. I doubt it, but that's my hope.

Nah, we’re talking about people who, deep down, think that rules should apply to other strictly, and to themselves liberally. As in, it’s OK to stop someone who looks like he doesn’t belong for a broken tail light or minor speeding, but get away with it themselves, because they have a good reason for it.

I agree. But simply hoping people will stop acting like assholes out of the goodness of their hearts is absurdly nieve, and gives all the tactical advantage away.
That’s one of the primary reasons the Republicans have been so successful in the last 6 years - they were getting beat, so they changed the rules of engagement and their opposition has been slow to adapt to the new game.

When everything else you’ve tried hasn’t worked, at some point you are forced to stop a bully by hitting back.

The left need to take a lesson from Ender Wiggin.

This guy is not _quite_ a politician, but he is a big Trump activist.  Lin Wood, personal injury lawyer, Trump supporter and Internet loudmouth who once called for Pence's "execution by firing squad" for counting the electoral vote. has just come out as both a flat Earther and an Apollo hoaxer.

Bless his little heart.

Lawyers have Doctorates, right? I wonder he was published in the legal sciences.

Exactly!  And if he was published, why, that means he's a peer-reviewed scientist, right?  Now FOX News just has to get him to say that global warming is a Chinese conspiracy and deniers will post themselves silly.

Hope, thats endearing.

Democrats want facts which is an absence of lying. How are they going to keep their base when they start behaving like republicans?

No, until one person in California holds the same power as one in N. Dakota. Until the SC appointments are re-balanced. I'd suggest some bourbon with your hope.To temper the disappointment.

The JD degree is an invention of the US legal profession dating only to 1902, in an attempt to raise its legitimacy.

Real doctorates date to the 12th Century, and were recognition that the recipient was qualified to teach at the highest level in his (all were male) discipline.  Doctorates had nothing whatever to do with professional practice until the 19th Century when physician/barbers decided they needed a boost in standing in the community.
