fallnfast69 0 #1 December 13, 2014 Does anyone know where I can find pictures or artwork that shows "ground rush"? Either a photograph or artwork. Preferably an artist rendition of ground rush. Abstract, whimsical or otherwise. Thanks for any help.

I'm not certain I've ever seen a still image that comes even marginally close to capturing the sensation.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
fallnfast69 0 #3 December 14, 2014 Thanks for the reply. I saw a painting a long time ago and don't remember the artist or whee i saw it. It was a good interpretation of what ground rush looks and feels like.

That said, no still image will convey the sensory bombardment that is ground rush.lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB
fallnfast69 0 #5 December 14, 2014 Ok, I understand that a picture doesn't have the same "impact" as being there. Whimsical, may not be the word I should have used. Mystical maybe, or surreal. At any rate, I'm looking for an artist's rendition of ground rush. Again, thanks for the reply.
GD64 1 #6 December 14, 2014 ***, no still image will convey the sensory bombardment that is ground rush. YES......"sensory bombardment", best description I've ever heard. When the horizons disappear, even in your per phial, as you are looking directly at the EXACT piece of earth that will be your "crater" while waiting on a piece of nylon......you are fucking alive! OR, if it's not your day.......you are fucking dead! A very interesting subject challenge to attempt artistically.
MikeJD 0 #7 December 14, 2014 Don't think it's exactly what you're looking for, but a member here called Shigeru posted some of his artwork a few years back that I really loved. I think these two would be the closest to your requirement: https://fotki.yandex.ru/next/users/kawaisan/album/153377/view/363019 https://fotki.yandex.ru/next/users/kawaisan/album/153377/view/364537 There's none of the motion associated with groundrush, but the perspective is very effective. Here's the top-level link to the gallery (most of it is skydiving and BASE-themed): https://fotki.yandex.ru/users/kawaisan/album/153377
fallnfast69 0 #8 December 14, 2014 Thanks for the link. Ididn't see the angle or idea that I wanted to see but the artwork is awesome. I'd like to see it a little less cartoon-like. I'll keep looking.
dpreguy 14 #9 December 14, 2014 The old Coolidge T shirt: "Take the picture!" desert scene comes to mind. Round formation, jumpers at the level of the saguro cactus; beady eyes and all. Maybe someone can find it and post a picture of this T shirt classic. Just hope you never are low enough to get that ground rush. I's flat out scary. Abstract, whimsical or otherwise. Thanks for any help. To paraphrase a funny thing I read and use it in this context... "Asking someone to draw groundrush is like trying to smell the colour 9". Ground rush is more of a motion phenomena coupled with some weird processing your brain does to try and get you to react to the approaching ground. A picture would only get you so far, and a video will also only get you so far... its more of a sensoneural experience of adrenaline and dopamine compounded by the hyperactive amydala and pounding adrenal glands while your brain tries to sort the very non-Homo sapien experience of flight. The best way to convey it would be to take a photo on final, blur the bottom with a motion filter to give the semblance of ground movement, still the focal point of landing, and attenuate the "stuff" above the point of impact. I could do this in a few minutes, but I feel like it would not give credit to the experience. You are not the contents of your wallet.

If so, it's actually from Perris. Lizard Waltzer, Perry Stone, Pat Swovelin, and someone else (can't remember who). Liz gave me a yellow one, and I wore it for years, but I can't find it anymore.lisa WSCR 594 FB 1023 CBDB
