Over the last dozen years or so there has been a group of the very wealthy that wants legislators to "sell off" that land whether it is BLM USFS or other assets. They usually want the states to take it over so that they can manipulate the locals easier than they can the Federal Government. I think its a REALLY bad idea... keep it for all of the rest of us to use.. not the very wealthiest to lock up for their own personal fiefdoms.
