Obamacare Opt Out WARNING!

Recommended Posts

I don't?

I do actually, but if that screws your image of me up, just ignore that fact.

Reality is I am grandfathered in since I have had health insurance for years and years. (anything prior to 2010). So if you had been more responsible and paying your way all this time you would be grandfathered in as well, and your coverage wouldn't be changing, and your premiums barely increasing.

Just because you and yours want me to?

Oh wow, amazing how many people do not understand what insurance means.

Do you understand the difference between health care and health insurance?

Very well thanks - did you actually read Bignugget's post?

(Hint - he was talking about health insurance)

I'm speaking of health care

Not a bad plan really.

My co-pays are currently $20.
Deductible is $2250
Out of pocket is $3000
Throw in a FSA and an HRA and most of that gets paid as you go...

Wait a second...why you bitchin'????

Now let's discuss dental and eye care coverage.

That makes no sense.

You didn't want to pay for health care you aren't using?

In what sense?

Do you think I get random doctor bills or something because I carried insurance for years?

I of course understand that paying for health insurance before you get sick is the whole idea....

If everyone could just wait until they got sick, then sign up for something that gives them 80% off the bill it would be great. A pretty shitty business plan for companies selling insurance though, might result in not so many companies offering insurance....So people carry insurance all the time, IN CASE something happens. Those premiums go to pay for the shit that DOES happen to other people.

SO of course you aren't paying for healthcare....you are paying for the option to not pay full price when you need healthcare

I have a $3000 deductible because I don't care about insurance covering basic visits but want great coverage in case I femur or something. I have 100 percent coverage above the 3 grand up to 1.5 million I believe.
I pay $150 a month. And I'm a middle aged female. Young people pay even less. My insurance costs went down for this year, and I got a refund check because BCBS spent more than 20 percent of their fees went to bureaucracy and not health are.

I haven't checked the Govt website but from what newspapers have reported I will pay the same or less.

The company I used to work had 20 percent or more increase in health care costs every year and that was when Bush was president.

How many people on here who don't have insurance can afford to skydive and then will beg their fellow jumpers for money when they femur or just declare bankruptcy and leave the hospital and fellow taxpayers to pay their bills because they could afford to skydive but not to get insurance ?

Because of this . . .

My monthly payment is going up 209.25%
My deductible is going up 181.43%

Somehow I am guessing that is not going to help me realize a 2500/year savings.

That is what he said, right?

You honestly believed a politician?
About a government program?
Come on bro.
:D:S:D

I'm not a fan by any means.
I expect this to cost us all a lot more money than anybody ever expected.
Just wait and see what happens.
I could be wrong.

I'm glad I'm able to be in the covered enough to satisfy the IRS pool right now. We'll see how I feel about it at this point next year.
Until then I can't honestly judge it.

No, its not.

Not surprisingly you don't even quote your own video properly.

Still a slow learner, huh?

One of the first clips is when he said "We will start by reducing premiums by 2500 dollars per year per family"

Getting closer, but still not what he said.

And you are an individual, not a family.

They totally circumvent the insurance sales industry. Here, insurance agents must have a license and take 24 hours of continuing education every other year. Selling insurance through these exchanges leaves insurance sales people out in the cold. Pretty amazing the state insurance commissioners allow this.

I think they're collecting data to solicit for votes for next election. It's all about big data now, and they're after everyones number.

Cool, another layer of complexity and expense removed. Fewer salesmen = cheaper health insurance.

>I think they're collecting data to solicit for votes for next election.

If obamacare is as hated as GOPers claim, it should be easy for the GOP to sweep the next election. Just claim "I am against Obamacare!" and they will easily win a majority and be able to cancel it.

Forgive my ignorance but what's the actual average cost of this whole thing per month then (for the average person) - 200/300 per month, more?

I'm far from a socialist/lefty but I do think we are so lucky in Europe to have a, relatively, socially funded healthcare program. You pay your taxes you get healthcare, or hell you get healthcare even if you haven't paid taxes for the most part.

Sounds like you guys are getting fucked in the ass

Everyone keeps forgetting:

Co-pay per visit
Deductibles
Out of pocket
Percentage of coverage (a lot of medical bills will be 80/20)
Don't miss the double the prices for cigarette smokers either.

This isn't "affordable" per se IMO.

It was never intended to be.

It is about power and control.

Mine didn't change. Premium rose $40 a month

Yours DID change.

Mine also changed. Price went up and the services went down. UPS employees lost the ability to sponsor a spouse.

So things DID change.

No No No Nothing changed. It is just different now. But nothing has changed.
