(bets the anti-science types here won't believe this, either)

so basically, my growing apathy is well-deserved.

Doesn't surprise me.

I think what you need is to be brought up with no roots, no sense of nationalism. Basically with no ideas that lack logic. No ideas of A WE. That only happens if you as a child while your growing up lived in different cultures and even then it’s not a guarantee. I can tell you life is very lonely, and people tend to seem very irrational if you do have that type of upbringing. You often feel you can not relate to anyone.

Not sure what is better for the human condition, belonging and being wrong and irrational at times or not belonging , being logical and not being able to relate. :|

I think you have some point there. I was, in fact, brought up elsewhere. I definitely identify as American, but I find it very easy to see other points of view.

And no, I don't necessarily connect easily, but people don't tend to see me as irrational.

Funny how over the years I have always been able to see your point of view and agree with it more consistently then most on here. Now i know the root why.:)
I do think it is a happier life to belong fully no matter how wrong. At the end of the day none of my logic or my point of view has done anything for me except make me not like some people, or at least not really connect with them.
Its even worst when i go to Iran because they have so many traditions that make no sense. I have noticed the more old the culture the worst it tends to be.
