Poor poor Eagle Do not blame the congregation, they are simply the sheep. Do not blame the eagle, he was simply doing what eagles do. The only one to blame is the eagle's handler for not correctly understanding the situation -- eagles, regardless of their amazing vision, do not understand the concept of a wall made out of glass.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

quade 3 #6 August 29, 2013 maadmaxMust be a slow news day in the angry atheistic world. American Bald Eagles are HIGHLY regulated. Trainers have to be licensed. The birds themselves have to be found by Fish and Game to be disabled in such a way they are unfit for release into the wild before anyone can keep them for any reason. A trained one that can fly for "educational" purposes is pretty f'in' rare. A trainer putting one into a situation where it could have easily been killed . . . actually that kinda is news.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

quade 3 #8 August 29, 2013 Quote That said this has nothing to do with the Christian faith. You'll notice nothing I said implied as much. That said, the church at Oral Roberts University WAS the location that the incident happened, so you might cut them a bit of slack there. Had it occurred at a military installation the word "military" would have been used. Had it been a football stadium the word "football" would have been used. BTW, it appears as if the eagle didn't die. He seems pretty pissed at the handler in a later video, but still looks very much alive. Either that or it's an excellent puppet. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

Auburn University here in Alabama has a couple of eagles in their raptor rehab center, a golden eagle and a bald eagle. Both are trained to be released at the stadium before most home football games, do a couple laps around then land on the "prey" at the 50 yard line. Not sure when it was, but sometime within the last couple years, one of them flew into a skybox glass panel.ETA it really wasn't all that bad, just bounced off an kept on flying. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgF6UJ5UgUs"Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban

Quite the contrary, given that it is a combination of delusion, stupidity and utter nonsense, it seems entirely apt. Though you might admire the kind of gullibility that you deem "faith," this case illustrates nicely the process of adhering to a paradigm formulated from pure fantasy. Bird has a broken hip and foot, and you'd bring it to someone who'll align its spine? Anyway it seems to me this one is entirely on the dumb-ass handler. No-one in the congregation forced him to bring the bird there and release it. It was up to him to assess the situation and ensure the conditions were safe for the bird. If you're going to hold the congregation responsible, then maybe we should also blame the audience for what happened when a Cirque du Soleil performer was killed when a cable detached a while ago. Bird has a broken hip and foot, and you'd bring it to someone who'll align its spine? You mean chiropractors don't fix broken feet?! I suggested he need a chiropractor since he just flew head first into the window...had nothing to do with his foot. Looks like it had to be a good 30 - 40' drop after he hit the window which couldn't have felt good either...bad day for the eagle at ORU.
