Warning - account spoofing

Recommended Posts

As a warning, John Rich has been trying to spoof people's accounts. He'll register a name like wnw999, copy Wendy's user profile and picture, and then post stuff that either attempts to copy her posting style or attacks people on his usual topics. So keep an eye out for new accounts with names very similar to ones you are familiar with.

I don't really have a problem with talking to John Rich.

We have no issues with you talking to John Rich off this web site. We do have an issue with violations of terms of service.

Did JR actually do that?

Sorry, Wendy.

Yes, he did it, but not to Wendy. He did it to kallend, billvon and me. Wendy apparently was just used as an example because she's too polite to complain. ;)

Also, because pretty much everyone knows that I know and like John in real life, and that, frankly, he wouldn't do it to me. Makes me a safe example -- no way it could be real.

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
