Just wanted to say that Gary Johnson is doing great and almost every person that discovers him comes to like him very much!

Just saying we're awesome and just laughing at the Republicans and Democraps that are arguing about who sucks more!

How about we vote for someone that doesn't suck...at all.

Wouldn't laugh. Look at what lack of any stronghold the Libertarians have. If the Democrats and Republicans are retarded, how come the Libertarians aren't clever enough to snag the vote or popularity away?

Because people want to say they voted for the winner, not the best candidate.

And so much of our system is set up to exclude anyone besides R or D

I haven't experienced this. Who has said this? Was it more than one person? Democrats and Republicans weren't the only parties that existed. Three other parties that put up Presidents: Whigs, Federalists and War Union. It's not the question of setting up against the other two, it's a question of dethroning one group or the other. How is a group that is about 40 years old never able to put in a President? What are they lacking? Why did a rag-tag group like the Tea-Party in one year produce more disturbance than the total combined years of the Libertarian Party? The answer is, they are very unappealing to practially everyone than themselves. The OP says that they laugh at the other parties, but they haven't earned any points to be in that position. To me this is sad, as with the exception of a few strange ideas, they aren't a bad grou, and have some good points. They have the ability and capability to be legitimate, but it seems that there is a strange hubris surrounding them.

Disproportionate media coverage, and campaign financing, to name a couple reasons. Give every candidate equal airtime, publicly finance the elections, and adopt proportional representation like every other civilized country, and I guarantee you some decent third party candidates will start winning left and right.

Yup. In this country it's all about who has money.
People seem to think that the more they see someone on TV, the more likely they have a chance, so when they see 1 thing about another party, they don't even consider it. It's a bad fad that needs to die.
Using the iSideWith data which has had almost 4.8 million people take the quiz, I was able to compare the people that agree with Mitt Romney and who agrees with Gary Johnson. (See Attached)
The redder it is, the more the people agree.
Funny how 47% of American voters "side" with Romney and yet they agree with Gary a LOT more.

Sounds like the Libertarians want things handed to them instead of working for it. Totally opposite to what they preach. Now I see what's wrong. They want Govt out of everything, but when things stack against them, they want a "fair playing ground" that could only be supplied by Gov't intervention. No wonder they are weak. Everyone but them knows they are full of shit. At least you can say something about the Democrats and the Republicans. . .they earned their position in politics.

Exactly. So now you know what the requirement is to get in the game, utilize it!! Get some money together, raise a couple Billion and start campaigning for the next race!

It may require something other than what you guys are used to; using the Libertarian platform for a political purpose instead of a place to whine about the injustice of the System.

It's still whining. Retarded people. . . Injustice. . . But both can be easily manipulated. Both the Dems and Republicans do. You guys just need to learn to do that. Take charge and responsibility of your future instead of riding the wave. There's a difference between the shepard and the sheep.

If it were that easy to raise $90million dollars, Then my DZ would have 5 wind tunnels already lol

What you are describing is Socialists. Just like Obama saying "You didn't do that on your own." Obama's target audience is mostly the sheep of America.

Gary doesn't ride a wave. He started a business from scratch and grew it to employ over 1000 employees.
He tried manipulating it by trying to be the republican nominee. When asked why he didn't just try running as a Libertarian, he states that the best chance he has to getting in office is to be one of the two main parties. He said the party really doesn't matter, it's the message that you bring.

Looks interesting but i've never heard of the Libertarian party before is this an actual party or an independent candidate? America is in desperate need of a third party.

Genuine third party, albeit a very small one. They, along with the Greens, Constitional, and even the Commmunist parties usually manage to put a couple candidates on the ballot each election.

Why? I'm going to vote in the election. I feel that it's important to exercise that right and duty.

I won't vote for Obama for a variety of reasons.

But I'm so disgusted with the republican party this election that I am having a very hard time casting my vote "against Obama" by voting for Romney. The same goes with the US senate and congressional races around here.

My vote for a third party (if I do that) is far more of a "I hate both of you this much" vote than an actual hope that GPJ wins.

I know a lot of people that cast Perot votes in 92 for that reason.

I understand it might "show" who you support, but that candidate has no chance in hell of winning is what I mean. It's a great American right to be able to voice your opinion, but when it comes down to it, it waters down the vote of the only two people who actually have a chance.

Choose the lesser of two evils at this point don't throw your vote away.

He's not throwing his vote away. He's very clear in that he understands the impact of not choosing one of the other two.

If he understands that impact, then he's not throwing it away.

If he didn't, then I'd agree with you. But he does. (What I don't understand is the rationalization of 'being so disgusted with republicans' that he can't vote for Romney - the ballot will say "Romney" it won't say "Republicans" - I vote for the individual and the policies they say they stand for. Party line voting is lazy.)

The Mason's still exist and you're are a great example of what they are doing.
Voting for Obama or even Romney is just pushing their plan one step closer.
Those that vote for them are just accelerating the process. Its baffling to me that people don't see the grand plan even though Obama has even spoken about it.

Well, I'm pretty disgusted with Romney as an individual.

And while Romney, not the Republican party, is the presidential candidate, if he wins, it will be a "Repulican" administration. The cabinet and his advisors will be "R". While Romney may or may not follow each and every plank of the Repub platfrom, it will in general.

And I'm also referring to more than just the presidential election. I will be voting for a US senator, US congress-critter and a couple of state offices.
While I don't vote a straight party ticket (I agree that it's lazy and stupid), my votes in the past have been more "R" than "D".

Edit to add: I really don't see a "lesser of two evils." Both are equally repugnant to me.

Voting for either Romney or Obama at this point is throwing your vote away when you live in most of the country.

For example California and its 55 electoral votes will go to Obama regardless of who I vote for.

Assuming 12 million people show up to vote like they did in the 2008 presidential election with the current 55 to 39% lead nearly 2 million third party supporters who dislike Obama less would need to defect and vote their conscience to change the election with no Romney supporters doing the same. That's not going to happen.

Those missing 2 million votes for Romney aren't going to show up either so third party people who dislike him less gain nothing by wasting a vote on him instead of the third party of their choice.

OTOH, more support for third parties in the popular vote leads to shifts in our direction by the loosing party, at least for marketing purposes. According to the Republicans' VP candidate:

Quote

Î grew up reading Ayn Rand, and it taught me quite a bit about who I am and what my value systems are and what my beliefs are. It's inspired me so much that it's required reading in my office for all my interns and my staff.

Third party supporters' votes in swing states may change the election results although that still might not matter to them.

Once in office neither candidate will make a significant change in us spending 7X #2 on defense/homeland security and about 30X the nearest country with similar land mass and border length (Canada, eh?).

Both will nominate Bernanke for a third term as Fed chairman which will be confirmed by the senate and savers will continue to see negative real interest rates and an inflation target of 30% per decade.

Neither is going to work to change the government's meddling in the housing market to artificially inflate property values to the detriment of everyone but the real estate industry, mortgage industry, and boomers down-sizing or taking out reverse mortgages.

Neither is going to actively support drug decriminalization.

I honestly think Gary Johnson would be the best next President for our country. It's just my personal opinion and my beliefs on what our government should and should not be, and how I feel about our current financial situation and how each candidate will handle it.

I do not, however, think I will vote for Gary Johnson. Some folks here say that is "throwing your vote away" to do that, since he obviously won't win. And as some others on here stated, there are some very big hurdles in the way that prevent the smaller parties from receiving as much recognition and publicity as the big R & D parties.

I will most likely be voting for Romney because his views are closer to mine than Obama's are, and there is not enough public support for Gary Johnson for him to win. I feel that voting for Gary Johnson would be "throwing my vote away" simply because it would not be helping to keep Obama out of office for a second term.

Our Nation's finances are so screwed up right now, we need to work on fixing the National Debt as our top priority, cutting federal spending in many ways. I don't think I'll like an effective debt reduction program for our Nation, because it will cut out some government funded programs that my family and I enjoy, such as financial assistance for school. However, I think our Nation's need to be financially secure is greater than any individual's want for an "easy" life. It won't be easy when China calls that debt to be paid in full, and we can't pay in any other form than involuntary conscription into the Chinese Army or labor hours.

I took that survey/quiz on isidewith.com and it said I was 92% aligned with Gary Johhnson, 87% with Romney, and 15% with Obama. I was upset I even had 15% in common with that guy...
