And this whole thing could have been over and done with over two years ago when the defense offered to plead guilty if the death penalty was off the table.

But due to prosecutors wanting to build political capital on the case, this thing has dragged out and cost CO taxpayers huge amounts of money, and will continue to cost them through the appeals process.

And BTW only one execution has occurred in CO since 1977.

He just needs to be buried in a super max.... with bars and thick plexiglass so he can look out on a gray featureless corridor for the next 50+ years.

Isn't the supermax in CO a federal facility? I believe the Bat murderer is a prisoner of the State of CO.

You're probably right...

Fuck it. They should just hang the motherfucker high enough so he's on tiptoes, and we all just turn him into a human pinata. :P

Recently the state of WASHINGTON shipped off Ridgeway... the Green River murderer

So its a federal penitentiary, but accepts inmates convicted of state crimes, especially the most dangerous ones? Just wanted to clarify.

ETA: from wiki - The supermax unit at ADX Florence houses about 410 male inmates, each assigned to one of six security levels.[11]

The facility is best known for housing inmates who have been deemed too dangerous, too high-profile or too great a national security risk for even a maximum-security prison. These include the leaders of violent gangs who had continued to issue orders to their members from lower security facilities, including Larry Hoover of the Gangster Disciples, and Barry Mills and Tyler Bingham of the Aryan Brotherhood. ADX also houses foreign terrorists, including Zacarias Moussaoui, the only person convicted in civilian court of the September 11 attacks; Faisal Shahzad, the perpetrator of the 2010 Times Square car bombing attempt;[12] and Ramzi Yousef, mastermind of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing; as well as domestic terrorists, including serial bombers Ted Kaczynski and Eric Rudolph. Timothy McVeigh, who carried out the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, was housed at ADX before he was sentenced to death in 1997 and transferred to the United States Penitentiary, Terre Haute, which houses federal death row inmates. McVeigh's co-conspirator, Terry Nichols, is serving 161 life sentences at ADX. Robert Hanssen, the former FBI agent who betrayed several spies to the Soviet Union and Russia, is serving 15 life sentences at ADX for his crimes. The prison also houses inmates who are a high escape risk, including Richard McNair, who escaped from a county jail and two other prisons before being sent to ADX. Additionally, former Bonanno crime-family boss Vincent Basciano is currently serving time in ADX Florence.[13]

I am good with that, multiple life sentences.. no possibility of ever getting out...... and segregate with no contact with other humans.... prisoners OR guards on the other side of the barriers of his very little world. Execution is just too easy... and I think people like this waste of our planets air need to have long lives to ponder their actions before they meet their maker.

Jury reached a decision and it was just announced.

Life without parole.

And we could have had this two years ago, when the defense offered to plead guilty if the death penalty was off the table. But, no, the prosecutors had to waste all the tax payers money, dragging this out trying to get the death penalty.>:(

Many people are more interested in vengeance (DP) than justice. I'm not making a judgement call on that but lets face it the DP has everything to do with vengeance and bugger all to do with justice. Kudos to the juror who said no in the face of massive peer pressure, regardless of if one agrees with them or not that takes moral courage.

Agreed.

Yes, the economic spinoff effects of all the money spent on the trial will be significant. More trickle down coming.
