More illegals?

Working in sweltering heat, nearly 300 utility workers from Ontario and Quebec have joined the massive, painstaking effort to restore electricity to millions of Americans left without power in a heat wave after violent storms hit the eastern seaboard Friday.

HEY, WAIT A MINUTE! Do they have green-cards? You should arrest and deport every last one of those illegals!

And my first encounters (numerous) with "illegals", were the abundant numbers of conscientious-objectors from 1968 through 1971 that entered Canada, and were met with compassion, understanding and acceptance. Many still choose to live here even after the official American amnesty granted them by the US government. Many have made some very positive contributions to our country.

While I appreciate what you are trying to do, there are a few key points that you are missing:

A: They are not sneaking across the border. They are entering legally through agreements utilizing approved check points.

B: They are not stealing anyone's social security number or identity once they get across the border. One of the benefits of entering legally.

C: At the end of the day THEY TAKE THEIR STINKY, NO GOOD FOR NOTHING, LAZY, SOCIALIST, POT SMOKING, "EH" SAYING, MAPLE SYRUP LICKIN', HOCKEY PLAYIN', FROST BITTEN CANUC ASSES BACK ACROSS THE BORDER!!!!!!!!:ph34r::ph34r:

P.S. Can I visit Vancouver next year? They got the best strip clubs....

To quote you - "While I appreciate what you are trying to do, there are a few key points that you are missing:"

Of course I was being tongue-in-cheek, but I do wish your civilian population and media was more aware of the significant number of legitimate retired Canadian vacationers/visitors that are now being refused at your northern border, denied entry (and sometimes outright banned) because CBP alleges they are entering to "work" surreptitiously and illegally. From the 70 year old geezer with his winter home in FL who was banned for 5 years because he had a very basic hand-tool kit in his automobile trunk. Or the equally-retired skydiver who has wintered annually in Eloy since 1993, but couldn't convince CBP that nobody was paying him for his video jumps, and is now the recipient of a 5year ban.

Did I mention that these people have no legal recourse via the US Courts to challenge CBP's allegations? *

But of course! #5 Orange ROCKS!, but I hear they closed the Yale last year [:/] (if you're in the Okanagan, try Cheetahs in Kelowna - they've picked up the clientele after world-famous Slack Alice's burned down last year)

Actually, I, for one, did participate with some interest in your thread re: this about a year ago; but unfortunately I'm not sure what more (other than agreeing with you) I can do for you than whatever your own lawyers may have done or are doing for you. It stinks that you've had bad results in court thus far. If your case is still on appeal, I certainly hope you win it, since I think you're being treated most unfairly. And yes, I find the practical denial of due process (not habeas corpus, btw) very disturbing.

Thank you for the correction - I think my lawyers are using habeas to request the right of due process. Although I confess, much of the jargon ultimately exceeds my grasp.

I really don't expect any help on a personal level, but it disheartens me that your citizens seem to place greater emphasis on topics like Cruise/Holmes as opposed to the negative impacts of a few out-of-control agents on thousands of legitimate and earnest northerners who simply wish to visit, stay warm in the winter, and actually contribute to your stuttering economy.

To me, that is the truly sad part...

I'm afraid I am not following your lament. It appears related to a previous post that I did not see.

Your posts here mention CBP (Canadian Border Patrol?). I have no idea how US courts would influence them. If it is the US that will not allow these people (and you) to enter, I'm a bit confused.
I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet..

But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.

CBP is a rather large US government organization. Customs and Border Protection.

See CBP.gov for more information on what they do.

Understatement - Canadian style ;)

Interesting. I've never heard of them. I would have expected the agency to be ICE. We have too many redundant agencies.

Every time I leave the US, I am heavily armed and in uniform.

I'm moving to Belgium in a couple of months, but it is another government move, so I anticipate the experience will be different from normal.
