Remove "In God We Trust" from US currency

Recommended Posts

If they're going to redesign it, then I've got a few other things to change while they're at it:

1) "E Pluribus Unum": What the heck is that? How about putting it in English!

2) "Novus Ordo Seclorum", and "Annuit Coeptis": Ditto, they sound like something sexual!

3) That pyramid with the eyeball on top is a constant source of conspiracy theories. Get rid of it.

4) "MDCCLXXVI": Nobody uses Roman numerals anymore, how about putting that in decimal notation so we know what it is!

That's my contribution.

Sounds like a variant of the old joke from Warsaw, back when it was a Socialist Workers' Paradise:

"Comerade, what is backing this currency?"

"Why it is fully backed by God."

"Aha, but you know there is no God!"

"So you know there is nothing backing this currency!"

I think this country should change it to "In God We Trust Not."

Perhaps He'll appreciate the truth...

Nothing in this country really displays any trust in God...everyone pretty much worries about everything or little trivial bullshit. All of our entertainment, primarily media entertainment (television, movies, music, video games, PC communication) are all exercises in hedonism. It's like one big carnal festival (carnival?) distracting us while the entire world goes to shit...congratulations, at least we're having fun, eh?

Eat,drink and be merry for tomorrow we die?
Your secrets are the true reflection of who you really are...

Are you suggesting that America should intervene elsewhere in the world to prevent it from going to crap? It seems like we have a lot of people here who are vehemently opposed to America doing anything, for anybody else, anywhere.

For no particular reason....

Not really funny...kids in the hall kinda suck now, but I did get a kick out of "running faggot:"

Your video did however remind me of another Family Guy clip about Jesus being small:

Who really reads what is on our money anyhow? The only thing people 'read' on a bill is the amount that piece of paper is supposedly worth. Some people just looking for something else to bitch about. As long as it 'spends' I don't care. They could print it like Monopoly money with only the amount printed on it and someone, somewhere would have a problem with it.

And it's only the religious nuts, who are afraid there is really no God, who need constant suggestions that there is. The people who are confident in their beliefs don't need any reminders.

I prefer to ignore the same type of unnecessary nonsense from that make believe world they live in.

All the anti-religion postings you've made lately would belie that statement.

I can always depend on Chuck to hit the nail on the head!

My suggestion for replacement:
"What? Me worry?"

That statement wasn't on the actual bill featuring Mr Newman.

Whats interesting is the basic philosophy behind this statement is almost 100% true for anything in life. People with the least self confidence are usually the bully. People the best at their job are usually the most humble and willing to admit error because they know they have nothing to prove. The best skydivers don't go around trying to show off to every whuffo that walks on the dropzone. And if I'm not overweight, I don't need my wife reassuring me all the time that I'm still attractive to her.

You could go on and on with this list. And I think its no different on both sides of the religious debates with the Pledge of Allegiance and our currency. Public prayer and yada yada.

It wasn't on any 'Merican currency yet either...hence the suggestion for replacement. I think it fits.

And this then, by itself, it a reason for the whole country to be committed to believing in a deity that only some of us actually believe in.....

And even for those who claim to believe in that deity, that cannot actually agree on what exists, what the belief structure is, and to what degree the word of said deity has any meaning.

In other words. It offends common sense people to have a deity on our money. If there was proof beyond some reasonable doubt....maybe.

It might offend you to see all the corruption that you point out - money, entertainment, hedonism....but all you have seen apparently is the bad stuff.

I have more faith in humanity - we put men on the moon, cured diseases, found vaccines, brought food to the poor and fought world wars to destroy enemies that killed millions of people.

All is not lost - with or without 'your god' on our money.

half empty or half full?

Have your beliefs. fine. keep it off my money and out of our government.

actually that's where you are 100% wrong.
I'm a staunch atheist and I'm here to tell you if when i die I am actually wrong. then I would expect a loving care GOD of the so called chistian understanding, to accept me with open arms.
Because I live a life that i consider to be moral and just.
I would not expect, your loving and caring GOD to deny me simply be cause I didn't bow down and suffer at an effigy of him or any of he followers.
You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky)

Hah... You impeached your own statement. Brilliant. You display a knowledge that belies your atheism.:S
