which state is led by the biggest idiots?

Recommended Posts

I swear, either the idiots running washington state are getting dumber or I am just noticing more and more how stupid some of their decisions are.

PORT ANGELES, Wash. —

Volunteer firefighters across the state would have to pay to serve their communities under a measure proposed in Olympia.

The Peninsula Daily News reports that (http://bit.ly/sgheDl) a bill requested by the Department of Health would make emergency-service workers, both volunteer and career personnel, pay a fee for their state certification.

Firefighter associations say that the proposal puts fire districts and departments in the position of having to cover the cost themselves or risk losing volunteers.

They say the bill would affect smaller departments and districts that often rely solely on volunteers.

Currently there is no fee for obtaining the certification. The state estimates the new fee could raise about $900,000 in the current biennium and $2 million for the 2013-2015 cycle.

Port Angeles Fire Chief Dan McKeen says the bill also requires fire agencies to cover the cost of certifying vehicles, which may end up costing as much as personnel certifications.

Information from: Peninsula Daily News, http://www.peninsuladailynews.com***

the $$ I heard them banty around on the radio was 200$ every couple years for the volunteers certification.
these people work for free and provide a valuable service in smaller communities - to charge them for this is beyond stupid.

so, my question since we have people from every state - what stupid shit has your state come up with lately that hasnt blanketed the national news?

* hell, if your not from the US and your state/providence has something stupid its cooking up by all means toss it in, insanity isnt just for americans anymore:S

Texas mostly because of Rick Perry. What an igmo. He makes me physically sick.

I can see where creating 40% of the jobs since the recession started would make you nauseous.

He can't be too big of an idiot. He's drawing his paycheck as governor as well as full retirement all while living in a snitzy house paid for by the Texas tax-payers. He knows how to play the system real good.

Take a real look at his jobs numbers,

Oh, yes...lets!

700k+ private sector jobs in the last 10 years. 250k increase from 2010-2011. 2.2% growth since the start of the recession, the fastest growth in the nation.

Quote

the unemployment rate

8.2%...less than the national average.

Quote

and goverment jobs created.

From the beginning of the recession, 70k. In the last year, -26k, probably census workers.

Quote

And look at the number of workers under the minimum wage level in the state.

Average wage is $15.14... and is the 6th fastest *INCREASING* in the nation, at 6% higher since the start of the recession - how can that be, with all those minimum wage workers you claim?

Looks like my support is well-founded; too bad the same can't be said for your ideology-based attempts at denigration.

ok, 150$ on the article, 200$ on the radio, either way its charging someone money to perform a service that could get them injured/killed and doesnt pay them a dime.

how many people do you think will be volunteering once they have to pay to do so?

Roy

Ps: I was hoping to get people talking about specific bills and crazy shit the coolaid drinking lawmakers around the country/world were coming up with - not trying to get people arguing about specific people that they hate *(there's enough threads that do it already I think)

Being a volunteer firefighter is not a job; people do it because they want to do it. TBH, I'm surprised that WA was paying for their certifications in the first place!

The whole "the sky is falling because we won't have volunteers" theory doesn't apply to fire departments, even volunteer ones. Most fire departments don't even have to recruit applicants because of the glut of wannabes looking to get hired or get experience or just play fire station.
It's all been said before, no sense repeating it here.

California or New York ...both believe the government is the answer and socialist programs and restrictions are robbing the market of profitability ...Both will end in collapse...

so your theory is that everyone is using the volunteer firefighting to either get experience to go on to a paying job or that they are living out a childhood dream?

nahhh, I dont think so- I have known too many volunteers over the years who had very good paying jobs in other industries who volunteer'd in their fire districts simply to help keep their neighborhoods a bit safer.

I can see that there will be some who are doing like you propose, however I doubt the numbers are very high.

Yakima county is always starved for volunteers, we hear about it several times per year on the news/ radio - if they charge for the cert then I am sure the lack of volunteers will get even worse[:/]

California. Run by union thugs.

Also, I found out that California is not broke. My daughter at UCI found out that some university officials are getting 20K raises on top of huge salaries.

And while many folks are getting zero per month ( ask me how I know that ! ).

Listen, the dudes a clown, he's always been a clown. All he has done for the state of texas is build new highways, overpases, etc....That's your 40% of new jobs, but that means nothing when he inherited a 40% unemployment to begin with. Now, lets take a look at school closings, teacher's benefits, outsourcing of jobs. It's obvious your a Rick Perry fan, that's cool. But for fuks sake, take your blinders off. This guy doesn't know the heads of the DOT, etc...in the state of texas. C'mon man, get a grip. He's got as much business running for president as you do.

If you live in Kosovo, you have nothing to say about what goes on here politically. And your home DZ is SkyDive Aggie Land. You been gone that long?

Ultimately, though, the blame rests w/ voters. They get what they deserve/ voted for!

Negative. The people we vote for often do things contrary to what they said they would do, or respond to new situations that didn't exist at the time they ran for office, in ways of which we don't approve. Just because we vote for them doesn't mean that we can predict how they'll respond to everything in the future.

Just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean they're wearing blinders, or don't have a grip. You should try to make your points without this kind of name-calling, as it does not serve you well.

Just because someone works overseas doesn't mean that they forfeit their right to be concerned about their home state and home country. It seems to me, that YOU are working overseas. So, if you were to live by your own philosophy, then why are you here commenting about the presidential election? Shouldn't you be one of those who have nothing to say about our politics, according to you?

And what in the heck does how long you've been away from your home DZ have to do with anything?

Sheesh.

You mentioned Perry and his highway construction. Perry, along with the former State Speaker of the House, Tom Craddick, pushed to build highways from Mexico to Dallas. These highways were to pass through small towns. Town meetings were held to hear both sides and citizens of these small towns didn't want all that heavy truck traffic bringing more Chinese crap into this country, rolling through their towns. Road construction was not to procede or start till an agreement was reached with the public. Construction of La Entrada al Pacifico continued while the town meetings were being held. Also, ranchers lost portions of their land and we got that highway in spite of everything.
I think that Perry is sneaking and out for himself and his cronies. Also, that constant smirk on his face doesn't help any.

It's pretty easy to predict that the bozo you voted for is going to:
- do things contrary to what they said they would do, and
- respond to new situations that didn't exist at the time they ran for office, in ways of which we don't approve.

Ergo, we get what we deserve/voted for.

That's why I liked Pigasus.
He made no promises other than to "Oink" at the legislators and shit on the Oval Office floor.
My reality and yours are quite different.
I think we're all Bozos on this bus.

typical - they are complaining because the state is trying to generate revenue. They only complain because they are being hurt personally.

nowhere in here is the option - "Washington
chose to cut (program, or etc) as a necessary budget-neutral action to allow the state to continue funding........"

people cry because their favorite areas get cut - but we never hear them offer alternative ways to fund those benefits

I just looked at the bill (H.R. 2141), it only applies to Emergency Medical Service providers. Meaning, that municipal and volunteer EMTs, EMT-Intermediates, and Paramedics will be responsible for their own recertifications and licensing fees just like all privately employed healthcare providers.

Like I said above, it's another "the sky is falling argument"! It has nothing to do with most volunteer firefighters. Nice spin job by the Fire Chief's Association! What a crock!
It's all been said before, no sense repeating it here.
